Has anyone heard of Don Mueng?

My girl lives in a village that sounds to me like Don Mueng (Mong) in the Khon Kaen district. Has anyone ever heard of it, and what can you tell me about it? Newbie!

There is no Don Mueng in Khon Kaen.

 

The only Don Mueng I am aware of is the old international airport.

Thanks IBF, perhaps I am misunderstanding her. She says it's not to far off the Malawan Highway, and I have found that on a map. I know Ban Fang is part of her address. Just trying to locate a little closer on a map.

A few weeks ago when driving back to Chaiyaphum from Ubon Ratchatani my wife and I passed through villages called Ban Don Meuang and Ban Suvarnabhum. I remember this because we both were struck by the names at the time and had a laugh about it.

 

Neither of them were anywhere near Khon Kaen. I think we passed them somewhere near Si Saket or Yasothon - that road anyway.

 

EDIT IN: I might me getting my road trips mixed up because I just found Ban Don Muang on a map when I googled it, and it says its near Udon Thani. Nevertheless, my wife and I are pretty sure we passed Don Muang and Suvarnabhumi on the way back from Ubon - so maybe there are 2 Ban Don Muang's? Anyway it was just another tiny anonymous Thai village like hundreds of others that you drive through. We only remembered the names of these because of the airport names. EDIT 2: I'm not sure the map in the link above is reliable. (I searched for my village and it placed it in completely the wrong part of Thailand). However, I have found a Ban Don Muang near Korat so I wonder if this might be the place your girlfriend comes from. (Could the original poster be mixing up Korat and Khon Kaen?). She lives in Ban Fang District(Amphoe). This district has several subdistricts(Tambol) that each may have several villages.

 

It may not be listed by village name on Google maps and you may need the exact thai spelling to find it. Many thai villages are not listed on maps.

Based on the OP and Crusaders post I would have thought she lived in Dong Mueang Aem - which is in Khao Suan Kwang (a in Northern Khon Kaen province) - which I think is the Don Mueng in Crusaders first link.

But if Ban Fang is part of her address than I am confused even more as Ban Fang is in the center of Khon Kaen province and not in the north?

 

 

As martin points out things can get pretty hairy when attempting to nail down specifically where a bird is from if the village is very small - there are tons of them out there.

Crusader, I think that the Maplandia link may be the one that locates her. I know she is not terribly distant from Khon Kaen as it's part of her mailing address. Now all I need to do is download google earth again and get an idea where she lives.
