Anyone know of a hotel for under 500 baht per night on or near Soi LK Metro? Doesn't have to be anything fancy...but a refrigerator and wall safe is a must.

And we have a winner!

I'm flying to Dubai tomorrow and based on what a doctor there tells me, I'll either return to Afghanistan or head to Thailand for a bit. If I go to Thailand, I'll contact you via your website. Thanks for posting up the information and pictures!

I got Metro Apartments for 650 a night (20 nights). Regular price in low season is 700. With the unrest I am guessing 500 isn't outside of the realm of possibility, but it is a little cheap. Skytop on Second Road near Soi 6 had very basic rooms for 450 a few years back. I stayed there and it was OK.

Can't believe you might be able to go back. 3 trips in under a month? Not sure if I should be jealous or worried...

When you put it that way, it does sound a bit excessive. hahaha!

Thing is I'd be better off in Afghanistan...at least there I'd be getting paid. While the time off is nice, I'm not being paid, which is messing up other plans I have. Were it up to me, I'd hope a flight to Afghanistan tomorrow. But, it's up to the doctor, and if the doctor says I can't go back into a war zone yet, then I might as well make the best of my situation and return to Thailand. Just trying to keep a positive spin on things.

Yes, short-term I'd be able to afford a 600 or 700 baht-per-night hotel room. However, if surgery is required on my shoulder, then I could be out for 2 to 3 months. The 150 to 200 baht I'd be saving nightly over a long period of time like that would be quite a bit of cash...up to 6,000 baht per month. In mongering thinking, that's six STs per month on Soi 6. hahaha!

You were hurt on the job but you are not eligible for some kind of worker's compensation? Man that is rough. Are you working for a private outfit, or the US Military? That does not sound right to me.

It sounds like that is the best option both from a financial and health standpoint. Best of luck with that.

Spoken like a true addict! I have found myself not buying things with the thought "that is the same price as a DD session" rolling through the back of my mind.

Get healthy dude!

I'm *supposed* to be eligible for Worker's Comp, but the paperwork hasn't been sorted out yet (and it's been about a month since my injury occurred). I'm guessing I'll get back-pay once it kicks in, but no telling how long that is going to take. Also, the amount I'll receive from Worker's Comp isn't anywhere NEAR the amount I would have made had I been actually working. As I said though, I'm just trying to make the best out of a bad situation. Sure, many people would kill to go to Pattaya right now, but I'm doing it because I'd enjoy recovering there more than I would if I were to return to the States. Not only that, but if I return to the States during my recovery time, then I'd get taxed quite a bit on the money I've made/will make this year...no thanks...want to give as little money to the government as possible.

Many bars now offering low rates Ice Bar 400 per night Murphys and a lot of others 500 now is the best time to come to Thailand regarding bargains!

Just come back from Phuket and was paying 400baht a night in decent hotel, no pool but i did'nt care about that! also excursions were running at half price which was an even bigger bonus!

Not many europeans there many koreans, Japs, china, Russia few brits and aussies!

No trouble though or curfews that has been seen around other area's!

Unfortunatley the girls prices haven't dropped! lol

I would try the Kilkenny in Soi LK Metro as I believe during low season they rooms at around 500 baht.

They also have good food there, polite and attentive staff as well. Free wifi etc etc.

Good place and very close to Devils den and Lolitas if you fancy some fun!

Murphy's Law on LK Metro has good rooms at 450 and it's a great place to stay.

I may be wrong on this one, but I thought i saw a sign outside Armageddon last week offering rooms from 450.

Robin's Nest on Soi Diana also had a sign up for rooms from 450 with a minimum 3 night stay.

Good luck.

Pussy is sweet,

but so is honey.

So beat your meat,

and save your money.

You might try LaKatai around the corner on Lengkee. It usually runs about 450 a night. Nice place, I've stayed there several times.

Thanks for all the replies! I ended up just booking a room at Billabong...thus far I really like it quite a bit. More expensive than I initially planned on spending, but oh well.

No coffee making facilities. As for price, I think it was 650-850 baht, if I recall correctly. They have a website that you can check.

BTW, Billabong has a nice, large, bar downstairs. Some of the staff are quite attractive. They also serve English and Thai food.
