"steady gun fire can be heard throughout the .... neighborhood"

"Helicopters are hovering overhead, attempting to identify possible snipers on rooftops"

"as many as ... police officers are also mobilized. Many can be seen in flak jackets and armed with heavy weapons, including AK 47s, to counter the heavily armed ... supporters who are forming a ring around the area"

"journalists have now been pushed back from the area"

"Residents are complaining to reporters that women and children inside the ... neighborhood are in danger from the constant gunfire."

"a barricaded neighborhood guarded by a group of armed gunmen."

"Eight police officers were shot, two fatally, during a confrontation near the international airport Sunday night. Four police stations were attacked Sunday, and one was burned to the ground."

"but I must accept responsibility for it and express my remorse to the nation."

No this is not from Bangkok last week. It is from Jamaica today.

My reason for posting it here is to point out that while the riots in Bangkok last week were horrendous similar problems exist elsewhere in the world (maybe not on the scale they were in Bangkok last week).

Bangkok Post reports that they are up to 27 dead and have not found Mr. Coke (good name a drug peddler) yet. If it keeps going they may aproach the scale Bangkok had last week ... in deaths anyway.

The Jamaican police and army finally took over the Tivoli Gardens area, 73 people dead and Coke is STILL not found.

What's interesting is that while dozens are dead only a handful of weapons were found ( according to a report i read in Reuters).
