Due to fly on 24th May for 10 days, but have just been advised BA flight have/are likely to be cancelled. At present time they are offering free rescheduling to any available time, but due to other commitments, the soonest I could book was next Feb.

Good news, I have booked for 20 days (16th Feb till 8th March) so longer trip, but longer to wait

Anyone else had similar problems?

Bummer. But surely you could just take a full refund and re-book with another, more reliable, airline?

Thats a long wait mate, could you not have cancelled and got your money back and gone to one of the better air lines, Eva, Ethiad or Emirates? thought it would have been cheaper too, but maybe not at short notice. i would have cried if i got cancelled! :GoldenSmile1:

i just would not of booked with BA in the first place, they have been going through this shit for ages and chances are your next flight will get cancelled or they will be bust IMO.

No they wont give a full refund at the moment (just taxes) and just offer to rebook for free. They are trying to get people onto other flights but at the moment they cannot guarantee it, but would offer a refund then if cancelled or departure delayed for more than 4 hours.

I have to take my leave around work and had to really make a decision now- worst case scenario they cancel, I get refund, but I cannot book with anyone else (within my price range) and I'm stuck in sunny Scotland, reading everyone else trip reports.

I've waited 16 years since last trip to LOS (Pattaya), so another 10 months (with a 20 rather than 10 day trip) is my only real option

and I've missed my birthday trip to DD !!!

fuck thats annoying .. good reason not to use BA .. ever!

O you who turn the wheel and look to windward, Consider Phlebas, who was once handsome and tall as you.

Oh ffs, that's who I'm flying with next month, bastards better not be fucking about when I need to go, if it's not volcanoes or riots it's gonna be bloody BA pissing about :(

you know what i would do .. buy another flight now on opodo or somewhere for this trip then go again next feb :GoldenSmile1:

they have a partnership deal type thing with Qantas, see if they can swop you onto one of theirs?

i think if that happened to me i would be on the phone to ba demanding my money back. or better still, try to get a cheaper flight with somebody else and go next feb too. bloody hell if i had a trip that was so close snatched away at last minute like that i would want to kill myself.

If I knew I would definately get my money back- I would rebook with someone else- but thats the problem, untill they officially cancel or change flights to another carrier- which would allow me to get a refund, I don't know if I would get it back- and cannot really afford to loose the money.

They say they will not know till this friday

I have other trips booked this year (non-LOS), so cannot move any closer than next Feb.

This way I live to **** another day

This is absolutely typical of Britain ...and BA ...the sooner I quit the country ...the better ( even if Barrow DID win the FA Trophy on Saturday at Wembley !!! )

Mikeycar sorry to hear about your hassle you must be gutted, like other BM said typical UK and BA. Had a price for Thai Airways out of Heathrow for next trip in Nov Flight £499 and Gorden Brown's airport tax £297.57 they are really taking the piss out of us. My travel agent mate said 90% of his customers who had booked BA flights in the past 4 months have changed to other airlines! As reported in the buisness section of the Telegraph newspaper today "BA lost £410 million last year and are on schedule to lose in the region of £800 million+ this year". Change airlines if you can BA might not be around in the future!

Hoffmeister :D

I seem to remember reading BA and Iberia were due to merge in order to cut costs subject to there being a satisfactory agreement with the unions over the pension deficit otherwise Iberia will pull out.

The BA strikers will wake up one morning to find themselves on the dole with no chance of getting another job as lucrative as the ones they already have.

Few airlines would be willing to take them on most of the ones I have seen were over the hill or the wrong sex for the majority of airlines.

Perhaps they will be lucky and get a job with McDonalds Pizza Hut Asda or Tesco their not qualified for anything else.

RIP BA it was nice knowing you.

Al.

Guys, I have booked my flight with BA on 16th July London to Stockholm than on the same day I am flying by Finn airlines to bangkok. Due you to think I should try and cancel my flight with BA or shall I take the risk?

A message from the CEO of British Airways, Willie Walsh

As you are undoubtedly aware, Unite, the trade union that represents British Airways' cabin crew has announced further strike action.

I wanted to update you on the situation and thank you for your continued loyalty and support.

We were saddened but not surprised that Unite has announced plans for strikes that span 23 days including the May bank holiday and half term. I can assure you that this action will not ground British Airways.

Unite officials continue to show a callous disregard for our customers. A small minority act as if they want to destroy BA and the jobs of thousands of their colleagues. And just when the UK economy needs help to get back on its feet, Unite will deal it another blow.

The offer on the table is very fair. It includes a guaranteed pay rise for the next two years, meets the union's concerns on crewing levels, access to routes and maintains a standard of living that reflects the value and service our cabin crew deliver to our customers.

During the last two periods of industrial action, thousands of staff from across the airline, including volunteers, kept British Airways flying and we flew more than half a million customers to their destinations.

We are confident that many cabin crew will again ignore Unite's pointless strike call and support the efforts of the rest of the airline.

On the strike dates we will operate all London Gatwick and London City services. At Heathrow we plan to operate a substantial part of our longhaul schedule. There will also be a number of daily flights to every destination across our shorthaul network.

We are talking to other airlines about leasing in extra aircraft to support our shorthaul schedule and we will buy thousands of seats from other airlines to help our customers rebook if their original flight is cancelled.

I fully appreciate that information is critical during such a period so we will regularly update ba.com with details of our revised schedule and options available.

Your support, patience and understanding during the recent months have been invaluable and I would like to thank you in advance for your continued loyalty in support of our business.

Another load of horseshit from WW, I got one of those during the last strike when I was in the Caribbean. I was on the last flight out of Nassau a couple of hours before the midnight start for the first strike. By the time I landed in the UK, Terminal 5 was full of BA planes on the ground and T5 itself was virtually dead.

WW "At Heathrow we plan to operate a substantial part of our longhaul schedule." Utter rubbish, don't believe it guys, if you book with BA at the moment you are quite likely to be disrupted, use another airline. It really pains me to say this, as I am a long-time Executive Club member and supporter of BA, but until this has been resolved they should be avoided.

Additionally, I have noticed their service has remained pretty static of late, whereas other airline products have improved and been upgraded, notably Premium Economy - BA's is one of the worst right now IMO. A lot of their fleet is starting to look tired and even when they are flying, because they have a very unhappy workforce at the moment, the in-flight service is suffering.

Avoid them is my advice.

BA are a joke now

The unions are always on strike for a start and you never know when you will be able to fly with them.

I like Etihad or Emirates..stop over for a while sure at Dubai/Abu Dhabi but it's a good airline.

Thai airways will get you to LOS direct as well and EVA I think.

BA's losses are immense now and I think the whole damn thing wil lcollapse eventually...Will never fly with them.

Hope you get a refund or a decent flight out

IF ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL WHERE IS THE REST OF MY PENIS?

If you book with BA, what do you expect. Everyone knows they are unreliable and striking, you only have yourself to blame.

Try Middle east airlines, never have a problem.

why did they say the flight is likely to be canceled? Strike, Volcano or situation in Bangkok?

Flying.gif I use Emirates and have done for the past 8 years ever since BA shafted me for £245 coming home from BKK.

They said my golf clubs were excess baggage but never mentioned anything going there,I was returning with exactly the same luggage.

So BA can take a "FLYING F***"imo.

Roll on July 13thGoldenSmile1.gif

Itchycoo... if your game is anything like mine your bag would be a lot lighter on the way home, lost balls and clubs thrown/smashed cos they did'nt do there job right!!! :P

Actually I said on another thread I hope BA DOES go out of business. They are everything that is bad about britain and UK business. They have made 500 million losses this year.

Plenty of good airlines that will take you to LOS, Eithad, Emirates and Jet. Don't know about EVA and Thai airways yet not flown with then.

BA are a disorganised rabble. I simply cannot trust them to take me anywhere.

2 things need to happen

1. The clown at the top of BA has to go

2. The clown at the top of the Unite union needs to go.
