I have had it done in the Yanhee hospital on four occasions now. Without getting too graphic it really does clean you out, especially the first time round.

 

The procedure is very simple and completely painless. Yanhee cater well to falangs and now have a dedicated falang reception desk on the right as you go in. They will book you in and send you up to the relevant floor. You see the doctor first of all and she asks you a few basic health questions. You are weighed and they take your blood pressure. You are then sent to a private room.

 

In the bathroom you change into a hospital gown (with open back) and then get up on the bed, legs akimbo. The nurse (male) then comes in and inserts a tube down below. He is wearing a plastic glove and there is some vaseline on the end of the tube so you can hardly feel it although it was a bit embarassing the first time.

 

In front of you is a large tank which is full of water. The nurse turns on the tap and it basically pumps water inside of you which you then release. You can see the water level in the tank dropping and it is marked in minutes so you know how long you have left. You can see the waste water coming out down a clear tube below you between your legs. This water carries all the debris from your guts etc.

 

The nurse tells you to hold in the water as long as possible before releasing - I guess that is to increase the amount of water inside you and thus parts of the gut, intestines etc that it reaches.

 

The first trip was certainly the most effective and they say that debris that comes out can have been in your gut for years. The third time round they added coffee to the water saying that this is more effective.

 

Afterwards they give you a drink and a small jar of vegetable fibre pills that I have never bothered taking. I think that the total cost is 950 baht with 150 baht being for the compulsory pills.

 

I would recommend it for cleaning out your system - I often do it at the end of a trip the day before returning home.

 

Yanhee is a great hospital and no need for a booking. The only downside is it is a bit of a way out so best to pick a time when there is not too much traffic otherwise you are sitting in the taxi for ages.

The honest answer is that I do not know. I am not a particuarly big guy and did not do it to lose weight although I am sure that I lost something, especially the first time round. I will certainly be going for a session on my next trip in August so I will weigh myself before and after and let you know.
