There's some pretty top notch and tough courses there, so the best advise is to get some lessons and play as much as you can on your home turf first to find out where your game is before going there for vacation ... the heat and humidity will also tire you out a lot more there too.

Pattaya is one (if not the) of the top golf destiantions in Sout-East Asia with 18 golf courses nearby.

If you wish I can give you some contacts of professional golf tour operators in Pattaya.

They arrange all details for perfect golf vactions, such as local transportation, booking of the golf course, etc.

Just send me a PM.

Try a practice range. There is one on 3rd road about 400M from North Pattaya Rd. You can take a swipe at hundreds of balls in a short time.

The courses in pattaya are pretty tough and i doubt a beginner would enjoy playing them.

My advice would be to get some lessons and practice a hell of a lot before attempting to play some of these courses, does not make for an enjoyable day looking for golf balls all day.

By the way, remember, golf is not a sport, it's a disease.

My first round of golf was november 07 at the pheonix golf club and it was a blast.

12 of us went out and even though it was my first round I wasnt the worst player there.

I just went along for a laugh and through the game I have made lots of mates I would never have met.

And the after golf in the dark side or at Ban Chang is good for a laugh.

The only problem I have found is that it is addictive and bloody frustrating.

Normally I am really good from around 150 yards and in but last week I couldnt hit a wedge to save my life.

But my driving and long irons last week were fantastic at kheow khaow I hit 3 par 5s in 2 missed all the eagles though.

A good place to try outside the driving ranges is the Asia hotel on bhudda hill it has a little 9 hole course.

Though if you go in the trees on the 5th leave your ball alone cause you will be attacked by the bloody ants that live there.

And welcome to a world of frustration cuase after you hit that 1 good shot your life is over.

"..after you hit that 1 good shot your life is over"

isn't that so true for many of us afflicted ones.

i still remember mine, it was a 5 iron, i was about 13 years old,

that was over 40 years ago!!

and still i am trying to find the secret.

(actually, i think i found it practicing yesterday!!!!!!!)

its worse than a bar girl addiction and definitely more emotionally painful.

i remember my good golf shots far more vividly than any sex experiences.

my advice to the chaps who fall hopelessly in love with bar girls is to take up golf,

then you will understand that golf is number 1 and beer and bar girls are just there to help you forget the pain after a bad round.

next morning you will be recovered and ready to play again,

as you leave your room early, you will give the hot naked girl in your bed a cursory disinterested glance,

purposely striding forward like Hilary out to conquer Everest.

(repeat daily).

I do not know your level of competency. I had never played Golf before I came to Thailand

I had a couple of lessons at one of the many driving ranges around Pattaya then met up with an organization that is called the "Travellers Rest Golf Group" in Soi LK Metro in Pattaya. Found a lot of similar level players there as well as good ones and one player took me under his wing for a couple of rounds and the rest is history as they say.

You just have to remember to enjoy yourself. It is a great way to meet lots of new people

The TRGG have a website athttp://www.trgg.biz you can find out more there including contact email etc. They will take care of all your need including club hire travel and booking the courses all you have to do is turn up.

Enjoy the game and remember once you start you will not want to stop it is very addictive.

Yeah just depending on your skill levels you could orgainise a golf tour with a good tour company such as (ahem) ourselves www.golfasian.com or if you want to do some lessons while you are in Thailand there are some golf lesson tours you can do where they orgainse everything for you. Also a coach will give you lessons and then play with you on the course so you get real time coaching. Try www.golfthink.com for this...

Cheers,
