Thanks

Flew with EVA last March from LHR.

Suitcase weight should be no more than 20 Kg. I didn't go over this so not sure on costs.

Hand luggage was never weighed.

Maybe their website will give you the info you need.

These restrictions apply in UK, so not sure if it's the same for you guys in the States.

Cheers

Tony

I always fly EVA where possible to help rack up the air miles in the Evergreen Club, check their website as the luggage allowance varies dependant from where you are flying from and to.

I am pretty sure it is 23KG if you are in cattle class between North America and Asia and 20KG between Europe and Asia.

I will dig a bit deeper. Problem is I'm AA gold with mostly no restrictions and last time flew Qantas they were much tighter about weight.

Thanks for all the help, and I did join the evergreen club !!

LOL Did they charge ya extra ?? Flew out of MEL last month my damn carry on was 1 K over in weight had to check it as "checked" what a pain. No extra $$ just the pain of having to wait on checked bags when I got to LAX

Last time I flew EVA was about a year ago. For that flight, at LAX they did have me put both my carry-on and checked bags on the scale together. I guess the weight was fine though, I didn't ask, but they did weigh all my bags at that time.

Just flew them from LAX to Teipei to BKK...and i must say, THIS IS THE WORST AIRLINE I HAVE EVER FLOWN.

They said the carryon limit was 15kg in LAX and this turned out to be TOTAL BULLSHIT as when i returned, no problem at all, same bag, same weight.

They said i had to have the credit card i used online to buy ticket at the airport and when i didnt, they said no problem and would credit my card and simply charge the same amount to a card i did have with me...i said ok...they charged my card but I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE CREDIT on the other card...which i have now put in dispute to cover my ass...it is now nearly 7 weeks since the promised credit...and NOTHING! I have filed a complaint with all controlling US authorities (local/state/federal)...both credit and airline related. With any luck, I can get their ability to take cards online pulled (ya, im that big of an asshole and have the resources/contacts to do it)...not to mention if i can cost them even 1 ticket a week with all the posts Ive made on travel sites...i will cost them 1000 times what they tried to rip me off for).

TO ALL WHO READ...AVOID THIS AIRLINE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've have nothing but good things to say about EVA. Great value with their economy deluxe. Upgraded on my first flight without asking, on-time arrivals and departures on every leg. Good entertainment system on board.

Three trips with them and no problems.

Requiring to show the same credit card used to purchase the ticket at the gate is documented before purchasing the ticket. I know not everyone reads the instructions, but it is there.

I recommend them highly and will continue to use them.

I have used EVA 5 times and never had any problems with them.

Great value for money IMHO.

Never had any problems regarding hang baggage.

It does state that you do need to show the card that you booked with at check in. I have always been advised of this if I have booked through an agent or on the net.

Flew premium a few years back when it was evergreen deluxe well worth the extra money imo.

I am looking for september flights and seen eva economy 450 and premium 750,but my preferred airline qatar from manchester there prices are coming down so will give it a few weeks to see if they drop even more. :Circle_Sharks:

I have flown EVA twice a year for the last 4 years. I was over on the carry on, was not charged as I took a few things out, such as a book and my cigarettes then put carry on in baggage. I always fly in elite class and on one occation upgraded and one other time EVA upgraded my ticket from Bangkok to Tiape. I have no complaints, enjoy flying with them and will continue for the future.

100% agree just booked my 3rd trip with them today :Circle_Sharks: never thought about

using any other company as their premium economy is such good value for the money and as

I'm over 6ft 2in tall the extra room means I get there feeling in great condition and can

get out on the town rather than having to crash out at the hotel because I'm knackered.

Also when I booked (on all 3 occasions) they quite clearly stated that you need the credit

card that you used to pay for the flights to be presented on departure and that carry on

was limited to 7kg. Book with this company with confidence, remember just read the

information they give you don't have the attitude that you know it all or that it doesn't

apply to you.

I also agree that Eva airline is a good airline. Had no problem with hand carry on weight however they did check some passager's carry on because it was too big to fit the over head. Some people just have to realize that not everything is a carry on.

Bummer. i wanted to fly with EVA from LHR. Seems they are a bit strict with the Carry On Luggage though. I will be carrying a lot of heavy camera equipment and need to bring this on the plane with me so will need another option.

Any ideas on airlines with a more 'flexible' approach to carry on ?

You'll need to wait 3 months for any refund.

You were very lucky because you should have paid full fare at the airport.

It's standard practice to present the same credit card you booked the flight with online. It's prominently displayed when you book, so no excuses for 'forgetting'...or certainly no cause for complaint should you decide to test their policy. Refunds will take 90 days, so more reason to get it right the first time.

From EVA's site...

' * Piece System:

For travel to and from the US and Canada and certain countries in South and Central America, the baggage allowance is per piece:

1. Super Business Class / Business Class / Premium Laurel Class: Maximum of two pieces of baggage. The sum of the three dimensions of each piece may not exceed 158 cm (62 in.) and the weight of each piece may not exceed 32kg (70 lb.) Under the piece system, a passenger traveling in Super Business Class or Business Class or Premium Laurel Class is entitled to carriage of one extra piece limited to 23kg/50lb without charge while traveling on EVA-operated sectors. However, if you are connecting to/from another carrier, EVA cannot guarantee this privilege applies.

2. Evergreen Deluxe / Elite/ Economy Class:

* Evergreen Deluxe Class and Elite Class: Maximum of two pieces of baggage. The total baggage size, measured separately and added together, cannot exceed 273 cm (107 in.) The sum of the three dimensions of each individual piece cannot exceed 158 cm (62 in.) and the weight of each piece cannot exceed 28 kg (61 lb.).

* Economy Class: Maximum of two pieces of baggage. The total baggage size, measured separately and added together, cannot exceed 273 cm (107 in.) The sum of the three dimensions of each individual piece cannot exceed 158 cm (62 in.) and the weight of each piece cannot exceed 23 kg (50 lb.). per piece.

Hand-carry baggage

Hand-carry baggage is permitted in the aircraft cabin only if it is safely stowed in the closed overhead bin, closet or under your seat. Every passenger is allowed one hand-carry baggage weighing 7 kg/15 lb. or less and no more than 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm in dimension or 115 cm/45 in. overall.
