Flights from the Uk Prices <--

Bravo

Recommended Posts

Why are the flights so expensive? I cant find a flight under £700. I have never payed more than £600 for a flight to Thailand. I wonder if it would be batter to wait till the last minute?

Anybody have any advice on this or getting better prices for That time of the year (August)?

Regards Ian

ive been looking for flights in august and i noticed they were dearer than usual - i think its got something to do with the school holiday times which is when the airlines rip everyone off - - i always fly direct and usually get a flight with EVA for around 520.00 --- the cheapest i can get at the minute for august 3rd is 769.00. you can get indirect flights for around 540 from heathrow via mumbai but i personally only like direct flights. best thing i am going to do is stick it out for a few weeks and just keep checking the prices nearer the time as they must surely come down - especially with the amount of people that would be cancelling their trip due to the unrest at present in bkk.

Historically, that's not been the case.

I came across a flight for August back in Feb for 500 pounds but haven't seen anything since all 750 or more - I am sticking it out until I find a flight in my price range.

I believe that airlines work on the principal that if you have set dates and are committed to travel to meet say a wedding, then they can charge the early bookers a high price. They will also apply the same principal to those that have to travel at short notice, e.g. the business traveller. If the early bookings are not strong, then perhaps release a few seats at a "good" price to get some publicity, those who have the ability to say yes to travelling can take that price but those that hesitate risk waiting and finding that the price goes up, not down. yield management is now controlled by a computer, and we cannot see the number of potential travellers watching prices, so we will always be subject to the airlines whim regarding prices

We also have.........people who were affected by the Iceland Volcano clouds rebooking at later date

........school holidays in Europe

........airline fuel priced in US$....we pay in £ or Euro, so crap exchange rate

........possible strike action by BA staff

.......many airlines still making a loss not a profit

Am in the same boat, Manchester flights for beginning of July have been £692 cheapest (with decent turnaround in Dubai), looks like they are easing a little bit.....£619 now.

Will hold out a tad longer......sub £600 gets them booked for me!

Back home and waiting for the next trip! Which aint long now!!!!!

Sounds good to me. Have you flown KLM/China before? If so what are they like? I usually go the Emirates or EVA route, but have seen some cheaper KLM flights for my dates.

Cheers.

prices seem to have gone up 10% at least in the last month the airlines have taken a quadruple hit for this route - first volcano, then fco travel advisory , also the diminishing value of the GBP combined with the increase in fuel prices!

I have never really found this to be the case and I'm always getting on airlines. The further ahead you book, will normally get you the best deal. However, this will depend on the route and how popular it is. Globally flights have taken a hike, especially if you are looking around at the moment. The Volcanic Ash incident has cost airlines billions and many experts predict it will take them years to recoup their losses, so flight prices have gone up. The economy and fuel surcharges have had an impact too, the impending BA crisis also has an effect.

You need to spend a lot of time now searching for deals and book months and months ahead - it makes a big difference if you can be flexible on dates. I got a deal last year to Hong Kong from the UK on Air New Zealand - £388.00. That flight today is nearly £550.00 on a special offer for certain dates only and the regular fare is as much as £758.00! There are occasional bargains around, but you have to hunt them out.

Flights are up across the board I'm afraid and will stay that way for awhile.

Yes same here cannot find a decent priced flight for what i want. Also i have to look at weight allance and found the best one to be jet airways via Mumbai. But there prices are still over the top and not happy with them anyway the way i was treated by them durring the volcanic ash problems. Mind you glad i was stuck in Thailand and not India.

I can resist everything but temptation!

Try putting in 2 adults 1 child and see if the price goes up for the adult, I was going to book an Etihad flight as I have a free flight which I can use, the flight was 647 for 1 adult so them I put 1 adult & 1 child then the fairs went up to 830 for the adult & 700
