They probably don't want the elections yet as one of their prime aims have not been fulfilled yet. They want to take political power away from the poor so that the elite (or at least remove the poor from the equation) can dictate who runs the country.

I'm kinda proud of the Thai people in a way. At least they are passionate about what they believe. There has been a festering problem there for a good amount of time. If my fellow Americans had half of the Thai backbone, I don't think our foreign affairs and financial situation would be so screwed up. I feel very sad for the Thai people and what they are facing, but few struggles for freedom and justice end without bloodshed.

I agree with that. I to think the Thia people are right to protest but only PEACEFUL protest. Wish more people in the UK would stand up against the corporation backed government and take power back to the people.

Mate, if the majority of your fellow americans lived in the conditions the rural thai poor live, the government wouldn't last a day. And the rich americans would help them pull it down.

You guys get stuff done and you don't take no for an answer.

Its just harder for people to get passionate when they have hot meals, shelter, hundreds of tv channels, and politicians muddying the water so bad you don't know which way is up anymore.
