First time pattaya- best place to stay

Hi guys its the first time travelling to pattaya and am unsure were will be the best place is to stay. After countless hours of research we have decided to stay the first night in Dusit D2 baraquda. After that we were thinking to stay in a guest house. As we are planning on staying for 14 nights it would just cost us to much to stay at a 4 or 5 star hotel for the duration. Is it worth staying at a guest house or should we just fork out some more money for a hotel. Ideally we were looking at up to a 1000 baht a night. Any information given will be greatly appreciated. We are not bothered if it has a pool etc, but do want it to be clean and be safe. Is it worth staying a guesthouse?

Thanks

There are many hotels for 1000 BHT per night.

My first time to patts I stayed at the Nova Lodge (now centara resort)for I think was 850 a night with b/fast. Usually now i stay at the sunshine hotel or sunbeam hotel, depending who's got the best deals. The action is right out your door.

When are you coming? There's loads around - just wander around Soi Diana/Soi Honey/Soi LK Metro when you get here and ask for a deal.

There are a lot of good guesthouses in Pattaya but I prefer to stay in a hotel.

I think it might be worth staying in the Dusit D2 for maybe 3 nights. And then spend one afternoon or part of an afternoon looking at other hotels/guest houses. The other hotels/guest houses will be more than happy to let you look at there rooms. And you can then decide on a place that you really like

I like the Lek hotel on Soi 13. I don't know about 3 weeks there though. Rooms are decent, locations is great, breakfast and pool very good for the price. But the best thing is the staff, those guys can get you anything, anytime. And the reception girls are DTF and cute.

I am always advocating newbies to stay in soi 7/8 area due to the proximity to everything important.

You are in center of town with plenty of bars on your doorstep and have the bahtbus going in both directions to make access to Soi 6 and WS easy.

The downsides is the noiselevel late at night but you are not there to sleep early anyway!

Make yourself comfty in the area first and in upcoming trips you'll have a better view over the town and can build your own preferences where the ideal location to stay is for you!

After 15 years I still stay in soi 7/8 once in a while.

My advice would be to stay close to Walking Street until you learn where everything is. Here is the suggestions on Walking Street.

Grand hotel

Secrets

P72

Diamond

For all of these the price will be 800-900B and pretty basic and old, but the best thing is that all the Gogos will be outside your doorstep.

"The Vault" is a pretty good place to stay. The hotel is clean...close to the action, reasonably priced and the owner is very helpful, esp if you dont know your way around. All the rooms are good but the SPAM WORD rooms are THE HEAT...the come with a mini stage that has a pole for the girls to dance on....google "the vault" in Pattaya and check it out.

I think you should stay in a more quieter area than too near Walking Street as it will be IN your FACE and overwhelming, somewhere better would be a place where a few ex-pats as well as guys who come here often who can answer all your questions in a more peaceful environment, there are many places like this and easy to get anywhere.

Get dropped off on soi LK Metro then have a walk around plenty of guest houses and hotels in that area starting from around 500bhat a night i like Kerati it's first on right coming from Soi Diana end of the Soi. Was 700Bhat a night last time i stayed and you get access to the pool and gym at the big hotel LK Metro behind it.
