I may be missing something here but you enquire about the Siam Guest House, but the pictures are of the Friendly Guest House.....are they the same?

I stayed at the Friendly Guest House earlier in the year on a recommendation. I was disappointed and glad to leave. Not sure if I was unlucky, but the room I had on the first floor must have backed onto the airconditioning unit for the hotel next door and every morning I was woken by what appeared to be an almighty bang as this unit started up, and repeated occasionally during the day. The only good news was that the unit seemed to be switched off during the night.

There are very few "quiet" places to stay in the centre of Patts, what with the trafic and beer bar music, but I think this was the worst sleep inteference I had experienced.

No Balcony's i am afraid, but there is an upstairs balcony area where you can soak up the sun, in reception there is a hot water kettle bubbling away all day, just buy your own cofee, tea etc.

For an extra 50 bht, yes the larger rooms are worth it.

Just back from a second visit this year and can highly recommend the Siam Guest House (yes also called the friendly guest house).

Its off Second Road and is in a small street between Soi Diana and Soi Honey. Its a no through road so your not disturbed by passing traffic.

Ideally suited for all bars, resturants and shopping.

Curretnly bht500 to bht550 a night depending upon room.

Some of the rooms have been recently decorated and they are happy to show you a room before you checkin. The rooms are cleaned everyday and fresh towels everyday. 24 hour security via cameras and someone on reception, they have large safe deposit boxes at reception as well. Girl friendly with no extra charge. If you need a taxi they can arrange that at a sensible price.

Website: www.siam-guesthouse.com

Email bookings: [email protected]

Phone: +66 38 424 245

All the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Before you ask no I have no personal interest just found it a really good place on a good location and at a sensible price.

One Life, Live It !!!!!!!!

Some room do have a safe but some do not. My room did not have one but the reception safes are fine.

If it flies, floats or fucks - it will be cheaper to rent !

1st put me in a room with a mold smell that was the worst I ever had to smell.

Asked for another room. Then, put me in a room on second floor in back...as soon as it got dusk a huge fan started with a loud roar and sqeaking noise..I mean intense..NO Sleep possible :o .

I asked for a another different room..I had a 3 day reservation-prepaid on Agoda. Far from friendly...I would not give my recommendation at all :ThumbDown1:

Just arrived to find pattaya flooded with water knee high in most of The area. Booked for LK renaissance for tomorrow and they asked for 3200bhat to check in at 3am !!!!

I left my luggage and checked on my google maps and found the nearest good option below 1000 was Siam guest house which is wrongly placed on the google maps on the same soi as Tim boutique.

They gave me a room, very helpful staff and I guess it is the bang for bucks. I guess next visit I will stay in guesthouses if they are that good and that reasonably priced.

My room is 32 on ground floor. No problems so far.

Cheers.

If your budget is really tight and you don't mind putting up with a few problem (yes, you'll have them)

this may be for you. Its a friendly place but you get what you pay for, no more no less.

But i would never go there again, i'm happier paying an extra 200 baht for something better
