I've been visiting Thailand for years and we've had similar warnings in the past which we've ignored. When we've arrived in Pattaya we've not even been aware of any civil unrest, disobedience or rioting apart from the news on Pattaya TV. I'm going soon and if I were you I would not give it a second thought. Pattaya is about 80 miles from Bangkok. Did the G8 riots or the poll tax riots affect life in Margate, Blackpool or Southend?

I agree totaly with pattaya warrior , unless it realy gets out of hand and spreads to pattaya it wouldnt put me off, saying that i wouldnt stay in Bangkok though at the moment .

Well said mr yogi am going out in 5 weeks, regardless of what some div says sat in an office in westminster watching sky news..besides my holiday is "ESSENTIAL" the girls would miss me to mutt if i didnt go :Jail1:

I'm in thailand now and in my opinion the media are making it sond worse than it is. To be honest i was skeptical about coming because of all the problems, but if your not in the areas where its happening then you wouldnt realise that there are any. I didnt have any problems and the advice the foreign office are putting out, it still wouldnt put me off coming. Dont be scared people, just act with a bit of caution and you will be fine.

Hope this helps.

Believe what the BBC says and you will never leave the UK.
