Roach free hotel.

Hi.

I recently stayed a few days at the Bay Breeze hotel on soi 11 during the month of January.

Good big rooms, friendly staff and decent price 700-800 baht daily depending on high/low season.

But during the evening after 7:00pm when I return to my room and turned on the lights there were roaches scurring around the bathroom.

Mgnt did try to control the pest with spray but they would keep coming. They blamed it on guests bringing and cooking food on hot-plates.I don’t mind seeing the occasional ants but big roaches is a real turn-off.

I plan to stay in pattaya for 3 months arriving in June. Looking for a hotel within the same price range(stated above). How is the Diana Inn in terms of controlling bugs.

Would prefer hotel location from Soi 8 to Soi 13. Near 2nd or Beach Road. And with no roaches.

Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks.

JF.

I stay at Jasmine hotel on Soi BJ, just a block from Happy A GoGo. The hotel is only 4 years old, so hasn't been

infected yet. Rooms are very basic, but cheap, 450-800 depending on season, location is great, staff is friendly,

and bringing in 2 girls at a time no problem. No elevator, pool, safe, or phone.

I stayed in a place once where in the evening i noticed a big roach running up the bathroom door i caught it and got rid of it... next night and the next same thing all diffrent sizes so it wasnt the same one then i realised something

Whenever the cleaner came in when she cleaned the bathroom and rinsed the floor she always left the little metal cover that goes over the plug hole to one side so i put it back problem solved.....Dont get me wrong this doesnt apply in all cases for sure but it can be a cause i now check for this wherever i stay and get very few problems.

Just remembered several years ago i stayed in the diana before the new rooms were added i only discoved one roach in 3 years of staying there....Unfortunately for me it was how i found it that was the bad part.

I had been on a big day out on the lash going to bed about one am two hours or so later i woke up the first thing i noticed was there was something in my mouth so i spat it out put the light on and there it was on the floor

As i had just woken and still very drunk.... for a minute or so i was only capable of making primitive growling and grunting noises which in turn woke up my equally drunk tg who in turn asked me what was wrong... my speech now restored explained what had just happend....Her response was to burst into fits of laughter once she stopped laughing she advised me to give it the old two fingers down the throat routine which made good sense to me so i duly obliged

(who says romance is dead eh)

No real roach worries in the diana from what i've seen and i sure didnt see mine coming and could well have been because of what i said in my last post...If i stay there again and get very drunk maybe i should stick a tennis ball in my mouth before i go to bed

Please, this is a BDSM free forum!

My Pattaya budget is perfectly adequate as long as I don't spend any of it

LOL nice one

Revised advice dont stay at the diana unless you go to bed sober.... or you could stick the tennis ball in the roaches mouth before you go to sleep and make sure your tg is sober enough to protect you from such a dark place in life

No, not noisy at all, it's off Walking Street. Just get a room away from the in-house GoGo Bar.

Last I checked this Feb (2010), they did not have an elevator. Looks neat, has wi-fi, but their stairs can be quite a climb (especially, if you have baggage).

at the Jasmine hotel for Easter 2010 the elevator was not fitted in yet but the elevator shaft was ready ...

I stayed at the Jasmine on soi BJ twice now and yes,

if your room is on the side that the BJ club is on

it's going to be noisey until 2-3 am. I saw some cute

girls working in there too.

I also had ants in the room, I have to admit they were only

around if I left some food out. the rooms with a balcony

have a gap under the door so insects can enter at will.

I think it's 850 for the balcony rooms but they discount

for longer stays.

The towels they give you are not made of cotton, horrible

material, enough said about the cons it is a good hotel

in a great location for Walking Street freelancers.

Ok gang lets talk reality. You are traveling to a place that has warm weather and it is humid. AKA.. ROACH HEAVEN. You are never going to get away from them completely in Thailand no matter what level hotel you stay at. Sure the nicer hotels spray more and take precautions to insure against them, but there are no guarantees.

I'm not saying that I don't mind roaches. In fact I won't stay in a place that I even suspect has a problem. I am just aware that they are there and chances are I might see one. If I see one I'm not going to freak out. If I see a bunch of them then it's time to move to another room or hotel. Especially when you factor in that for ever one you see there are 10 you don't.

I was at Canterbury Tales. Saw no bugs except an occasional tiny flying thing that might have been a mosquito. But I was not bitten, so maybe something else.

Honestly we should all be thankful that LOS isn't a place where the roaches fly! That is the one thing that really freaks me out. Nothing like walking down the street and having one land on your head.

I've spent a fair amount traveling around LOS.

You can usually tell very easily if a place has a good chance of having roaches. Ask to see the room. If you see drapes from 1970s, rabbit ears on the TV antenna, and stains on wallpaper and sheets, 'thai' bathroom - chances are against you.

If you see squeeky clean tiled floors, western bedding with clean sheets, western stylish bathroom, and everything looks new and clean - chances are in your favor.

I stay away from guesthouses and similar. They are old and run down. This is where roaches will be. I also stay away from rooms close to the kitchen/restaurant. I've learned these lessons my first week in LOS the hard way.

You have a very specific area where you want to stay. Arrive in Pattaya in the morning and just walk down the street. If you see a squeeky clean lobby, ask to see the room, and then negotiate the rates. This is my MO for finding hotels in LOS and it has never let me down... The only problem with this strategy is that some of the bigger hotels may not be able to negotiate if high-enough manager is not there to talk to you. Otherwise, it's the best way and you are never stuck in a place you don't like or is in a bad location.

I go to LOS for a vacation. It would not be a fun vacation to me if I have to sleep in dirty sub-par accommodations. Roaches disgust me and would make my trips unpleasant. Thankfully Thai people are very clean and they take care of their hotels as best as they can. (Even the guesthouses that had roaches, it wasn't due to lack of cleaning effort on their part.) Clean accommodations can be found in the 1000 baht range everywhere easily, and I guess if you do your research, so can 800 baht rooms.

1, your lucky to find a hotel thats free of roaches

2,They always blame it on you that you have brought food into your hotel room
