Red Shirts and Media Distortions

I just came across this article that suggests "draconian" measures being taken by the Thai government.

I was feeling the same way. Mostly all the media reports that I have read from Thailand have been pretty one sided (imho)

Any members who are more attuned to the situation in Thailand, care to put their 2 pennies into the mix?

IMO that article is 100% correct the media is heavily censored in Thailand. I did say a lot more but thought it prudent to delete it WhoSaw1.gif

Prachatai.com was set up by a group of journalists that disagreed with the censorship but has now been shut down by the government.

BTW censorship of the media is not a new thing brought in because of the demonstrations it has always existed in Thailand just a bit more lately.

abit OOT

A friend of mind is getting really anxious in Thai. Her brother is in the Thai Army, and he is what they called Watermelon. Wearing green army garb on the outside, but actually supporting Red. This is why the govt. can't properly control the protesters. This is really troublesome. Who would want to discipline their own family or friends when they are protesting, and that's what is happening in the army. While some media potrayed its Army Vs UDD Red Faction, in reality its not that simple.

The rulers might want one thing, the comanding officer might order some things to be done, but if the grunts gets mroe and more unrest, something bound to happen.

I think, this wouldn't stop unless something drastic happen. Let just hope it wouldn't blew up in the face of the govt. Not only my trip would be canceled, on the serious note, most of my buyers would have difficulties doing business if this keep going on and on. Let just hope it get resolved peacefully or at least with not so much violence.

where does it end?

if the "reds" get their way and a new election is called, most agree that the winning party will be the one the the red shirts support.

if that happens... here come the yellow shirts, like in 2008, who won't stop protesting until they get their party into power.

some have said that there is a possibility (hopefully small) of a civil war, rich versus poor
