I always fly from heathrow because you will always get the cheapest possible flights from heathrow. yes i know you are asking about manchester but if you can organize a lift to heathrow or even book a train online well in advance you can get a great price. it is a hassle i know (i live in hull). Especially going home. not too bothere about going there cos i am buzzing but you can save a packet. i would say you should knock at least a hundred quid off the price of your manchester flight by flying from heathrow...but if heathrow isnt an option and you have to go from manchester, my only advice to you is go online every day, the prices of these flights are up and down like a thai girls knickers, i know as i have been checking all the flight sites daily for 3 years now...hope my advice helps

This is good advice you can save up to £200 flying from LHR rather than MAN. I always get ridiculous quotes from Thai Air (£1500) from Manchester but London is much more reasonable.

Not as much of a pain in the arse getting there as well only 1 train change at Euston or Reading, 3 1/2 hours on the train. Book in advanced to save money.

There is always the option of looking at a different route - like manchester-amsterdam- moscow-bkk a friend of mine got a flight last year from newcastle - poland - moscow -bkk paid £350 but extra 10 hrs. Maybe its worth looking for flights to china then get cheap connecting flight. Also you coulld look at flying to hongkong or singapore or india and then getting a connection there. One guy i know went to hongkong and then he got 1 ship and 2 ferrys saved a fortune but took 3 days extra.

personaly i live in newcastle i fly with emirates direct to dubai and then on to bkk costs £500-600

I live in Durham and used to fly Emirates exclusively....till the stopovers in Dubai became ridiculous..This added up to 15 hours to the journey, and the Dec prices are outrageous. I have got flight from LHR £478 Dec 25th (suits me). Flights from Newcastle are close to, and over A GRAND!!!! No ta...

Try skysanner and Kayak, on Kayak you can ask it to alert you when flights are available at a set price and it will send you an email for x amount of weeks. You can even state departure airport, but as others have said, you usually get better fares from London rather than regional airports.

whilst we on the topic of cheap flights anyone care to tell me why the flights from BKK back to the UK are 1000+ at the moment ? seems a bit OTT (this is to manchester and londons not an option)

every flight ive had to and from here in the past has been 500 to 650 a time , i know the airlines lost a bit of cash recently but thats not our fault LOL

you think the high prices are due to the lack of seats while they all clear the backlog of passengers ? and will return to more reasonable prices in a month or so ?

I have to take Builders Hildays in Ireland so im kinda stuck to the lastcople of weeks in July.

i see most flights with Turkish Airlines are € 1700 + at that time, compared with some under € 700 in June, kinda sucks.

China Airlines is a bit under € 1000 though ( for a few dates ), anyone with any experience using them, i suppose all im looking for is go get there in 1 piece, so it should be ok....

seen a cheaper flight on China Airlines yday, for € 790.

went home last night, was going to book it, but in the 2 hours, it had risen to € 1130 !!!

problem is my dates are not flexible at all, & in the dearest week of the summer ;-(

maybe a weekend in Donegal would be a better bet ;-)

if you want dirt cheap, Mahan air (iranian airline) fly from Birmingham to BKK for £420 return. No booze on flight or at Tehran airport during a 12 hr transit wait! No tellys on plane either - proper basic.

I booked this initially then changed my mind and got Manc to BKK with Etihad for £650. Booked it in Jan, goin in 3 weeks.
