Anyone had a recent experience with the Royal Asia Lodge on Sukhumvit Soi 8 in BKK?

I stayed there a year ago. It's ok, wasn't really my choice but since the nana hotel and others were fully booked, that was the only one I could find that had rooms available. Its not that great but its not that bad, on par with nana hotel though you should bring your own soap/etc because they didnt have any there.

Also, it's a very long walk to the main road, that's why they have their own shuttle thing to bring you there which is nice but its hard to spot one on your way back.

Well, I stayed there my first two nights last December but I cannot for the life of me remember what the room was like. And the tuk tuk driver finally showed me where the button is to summon him by one of the massage parlors off to the side close to Suk so you don't have to stand there waiting for him to make a run. Maybe since I can't remember any bad things about the room it was okay. I wish I could remember it, though.

Ok so Woody told me he stayed here recently. Maybe he knows the place & would be kind enough to give us his impressions. TIA.

Stayed there 5 months ago, made my reservation over the internet

as it was hard getting anything on short notice, so I went with them

and splurged a little for the junior suite at 1600 baht per night, about

300 more than a room only.

 

Their advertisement said this suite included free wifi but as I checked

in they said that was the top of line suite, not for the junior.Had I known

this before I wouldn't have wanted the suite.

 

Anyway the room was nice but they nickle and dime you for everything,

no free bottled water, no free breakfast, they do have free tuk tuk rides

to and from Sukhumvit.

 

If nothing else was available i'd stay there but in a regular room instead

of the suite.

 

The stable lodge also on soi 8 appears to be a better option.
