Travel insurance

Hi All

Could anyone recommend any insurance providers- I've been looking online and am getting quotes form about £15- £35.

I'm after basic cover for my 10 day trip, not really bothered about possessions (won't be taking anything of any real value), but more for medical cover

Thanks

Mike

I always the travel insurance from the Post Office. I think you can get a discount if you do it online.

Paid £71 for a year inclusive of SE Asia, but not sure of cost for 10 days. May be worth checking out.

Cheers

go with the internet for value but expect it to take forever to get any money from them.

use post office and pay more but a lot easier to get any money should the worst happen

I use Atlas Direct - its pretty cheap and had to make a claim for some medical expenses I incurred on my last trip (£60 nothing overly expensive)

Whilst I had to pay upfront for the Pattaya doctor's medical costs they were reimbursed after submitting a form and receipts etc with a wait of about 3 weeks. I was happy that i'd taken the excess waiver option for about £4 extra as the excess was less than my claim.

I've been looking at various options through money supermarket price comparison site but many companies are overly restrictive on minor pre-existing illnesses. For me Atlas disregard the daily tablets I'm on for cholesterol so I think I'll be using them again.

£5m medical cover policy with waiver plus other benefits cost about £25 in Jan 2010

I have also used Atlas Direct - this company was recommended by a friend who is an Insurance broker as he informed me that they are very competitive on price and east to deal with should you need to make a claim.

I use annual insurance with 'Direct Travel Insurance' which includes USA. Made hassle free claims in the past and they are better than the post office on a like for like basis and about £20 cheaper for the top cover.

i have used insuremytrip.com and have felt like I got a good deal.

They have policies from many carriers on a page that makes it easy to compare them.

Up 2 U but £150 excess wouldn't be my choice I'd rather pay an extra £10 upfront for no excess but that's risk assessment ........at the end of the day this could be the most important £15 to £30 you ever spent if something goes seriously wrong on your holiday
