Will hotels with openings still be easy to find during Songkran?

So.....

I arrive this upcoming weekend to Pattaya for the first time and have booked for the first few days at the Grand, planning to experience Walking Street first then move further into the middle of the city. However, my checkout date is the 13th which is the dead start of the songkran festival so two things worry me...

1. Will any hotels have openings? I don't want to spend all day soaking wet looking for a hotel.

2. I do not want to walk around with my backpack and get it soaking wet as well :)

I am looking forward to Songkran overall but these two items worry me....I almost considered booking for longer at the Grand but everyone tells me to try it first THEN decide if I want to stay....but just sort of worried everything may be full at that time.

With the red shirt protests and tourism down 30% this month I think I'll be ok but any help anyone?
