Recommendations hotel Koh samet

Hi guys,

 

I am planning to visit Koh samet for a few nights in two weeks time. Just to get away from the hussle and buzzle in Bangkok.

 

Can anyone give me some recommendations on hotels in Koh Samet? Thanks in advance

I can tell you where not to stay, any of the Samed Resort Group of hotels. Stayed in the Ao Prao Resort and then the Le Vimarn Cottages & Spa and although the rooms were nice the beds are a f&$king disaster, the large bed in the Le Vimarn was small crappy mattresses stuck together that after two night sleeping on I had to cancel my holiday due to back pain and spend the rest of the wee laid up at home recovering.

 

Great location but the accommodation was overpriced and due to the bed very substandard.

 

Any the usual reply from the hotel when making comment on the beds and having to cut my holiday short because of the back problems they caused – no reply at all.

i was their last trip..stayed at mallibu resort, nothing fancy, double bed, shower,tv, was good enough, spent most of time on beach and went on island tour for my first snorkelling experience.. loved it..

made a trip report..

ps. ask for room with hot water when booking on the island...costs extra.

to hat sie kiuew at nite??

sorry mate, not clued up enough, was my first time their.. few bars ,restraunts, nothing too lively, went their for peace and quiet time with thai lady..done all my eating and drinking outdoors...

I dare say other members will know more..

Had some great times at http://www.sametvilleresort.com/ takes a bit of effort to get there as its right in the south of the island and only one boat, but if you look at the website, you can pick your bungalow in advance, its quieter than the rest of the island

Depends on your price range and level of comfort required.

I have been there a few times, the latest being last Nov, where I stayed at the most popular beach (saikaew)at the place listed below. It was pretty basic but clean and cheap! I settled for a fan room and was happy, price I recall was only 600 bht per night.

Definately take a girl with you,and I would recommend the speedboat option at 250 bht each instead of fucking about with the ferry. The SB will take you directly to the beach.

Hi thanks for your reply. Was it easy to find a restaurant from where you had your bungalow or do you know if its easy to go to Hat sie kiuew from there

to have dinner and a drink ?
