I have a 7D for all of my photos where i can carry an SLR and a few lenses around and an S90 for carrying around nightclubs or when i am not bothered to lug my SLR around. The quality of the S90 is very good, great low light shots with little noise compared to other compacts, IS, very nice lcd,but i find the controls on top of the camera easy to knock out of place.

Yep, you know her?

Yep. There was a an ad for some amulet on the

TV one night and she was frantic about writing

the number down. Nice girl with a different sort of "look"

and a good sense of humour. Obviously That Tattoo stuck in my mind.

Check out my TR and you'll find a number of photographs of her in there! (see signature). Agree about the different look, brilliant dancer, but unfortunately she started to 'lub me too mutt'... then went s little crazy when it wasn't reciprocated.

EDIT: here she is http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/forum/topic/60345-a-few-days-in-the-life-of-jinttara/page__p__943210#entry943210

Thanks for that. Funny to see her with black hair, probably wouldn't have recognised her in those shots

but I recognised the back shot.

Nice photos by the way, might be buying an s90 for next trip.

Definitely a excellent dancer but on the downside I couldn't barfine anyone else in Peppermint

after seeing her.

Shit looking more closely I have read that thread and didn't recognise her.

That's depressing and I can't blame the (excellent) photography either.

  • 3 weeks later...

I love the S90, the only negative point is that the ring on the backside turns much too easily and when touched accidentally, thereby over or underexposing by a few steps.

No idea about DXB but its more expensive in the BKK and SIN dutyfree than in Pantip Plaza.

Anyone know how much you can pick an S90 up at Dubai Duty Free?

Spider, yes I have the S90 and that rear ring is a problem, this may help you..

http://www.digicamhelp.com/camera-logs/canon-s90/s90-control-ring-solution/

I tried it and it works fine, flip out the inner part with the Macro, Flash etc logos with a sharp knife, I used small piece of plastic wrapping from a strip of Antacil, I placed it in position so that when I popped the inner piece back on it will cause friction with the control dial, hey presto, its working fine and does not spin so easily, in fact its perfect for me.

Good luck.

Hi Mick,

Thanks for the link.

Alos noticed that on the new S95 the ring problem seems to have been solved.

So those who still don't have the S90 should probably wait for the S95 which should hit the shops in the coming weeks.

You're welcome mate, that small fix really does work actually. :)

The S95 will give you 720p HD video, very nice too.

The very best of luck with whatever you choose, happy snapping mate.............. S90, S95, you'll get some great shots with either camera. :)

The main thing is the F 2.0 lens, it's very fast.

It allows you to get shots that the normal point and shoot cannot get.

They are very impressive cameras, incredible low light capability.

Example, outside, evening, no flash.
