Well buses leave from Pattaya to NongKhai approx 600bht takes a long time, 12+ hrs

Then 100bht bus depot to the crossing, 20bht across the Mekong, 1500bht Lao visa, then no more than 200bht to get into Vientiane all approx

hotels vary from 500 for okay up depending where you stay

Some buses go to Vientiane from Udon but you must have your Lao visa beforehand

Everything else leaves from Bkk unless there are flights out of U tapo

Who is fit to govern others?

He who governs himself. ?

You might as well have said: nobody.

When I made the same trip last June, I flew from Suvarnabhumi to Vientiane with Lao airlines. Cost was about £100 (one-way) & flight time maybe 75 mins. Visa required for UK passport holders which you can get on arrival at Vientiane airport.

Thai airways Bkk - Vientiane, fast but expensive, last year was 12K + visa's, hotel, etc.Total 18-20K.

AirAsia Bkk - Udon is better / cheaper choice, then minibus/taxi to border.

Visa run company from Pattaya, around 9K, all included.

hi thanks very much for info, but do you or anyone know how much for mini bus, visa, at border and how long the journey to Vientiane from udon ?

cheers

Minibus from Udon Airport takes aprox 45 min - 1 hour only to Friendship Bridge, cost Thb 200.

They call it limousine, but use minibus. TIT.

If you use Nok Air to Udon, arrives 7am, you'll be at Thai Consulate at 9.30am.

Remember USD 35 for the Laos visa.

You can catch a bus from Pattaya to Nongkhai on Sukhumvit Road.

Pattaya Laos Visa Run

Have a good trip

The best time to catch the bus to Nong khai is at 17:40. You will get to Nongkhai early enough to catch a

Tuk Tuk to the border and be there when the border checkpoint opens.

Make sure you don't go on a Friday unless you want to spend the weekend in Vientiane.

Apply for the visa in the morning and pick up next afternoon.
