ok i'm ready to give my computer a nice warm shower followed by a sledgehammer massage ! LOL

I have some e invoices from my wireless provider which i downloaded from their website . they download in a compressed format and after I uncompress them they are in a .DTL formal . I rename them .csv or .xml and open them in excel .

all is fine EXCEPT one colum shows the dates of the calls made . for some reason the months and years are being randomly changed ! and i cant fooking figure out why !

i am running excel with vista on my desktop and laptop and it does it with both of them

i did open it up in a pc with XP and and works ok , except that computer is possesed and shows the dates in chinese ! ( thats another issue )

I dont have another PC with XP to use as they are almost all vista

I know its a longshot but any help would be Greatly appreciated !

Not sure what you mean by "the months and years are being randomly changed" but perhaps the column needs formatting?

Take a look at the source file in notepad or other text editor and see what that column looks like before excel tries to format them.

Long winded way of doing it mate but there are embedded macros in the .dtl files that will do strange things every time you open them unless you export them properly using the software they were created in. A tutorial on this is here.

The software that produced them is rare in fact .dtl files are more usually associated with the SIMS
