hi,new to this site.

Just wanted to thank everyone for there post, seeing how it is very helpful to a newbie. I've been to Thailand three times and have managed to miss this dreamland called Pattaya each time. I plan on going in late April and am heading straight there. I planned on booking into Secrets hotel but was wondering if anyone can tell me if its actually worth staying there, or is there a better hotel there. Noise doesn't really bother me as i don't sleep much. I'm more into convenience of distance from the action and price. All info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Welcome! I think Secrets will meet your criterion perfectly. Great location (Walking Street) and mobility issues aside (stairs) should be good for you. I've always loved Secrets bar, not too pushy and nice and relaxed. btw, where else in LOS have you been?

My Pattaya budget is perfectly adequate as long as I don't spend any of it

Always found Secrets to be a bit on the pricey side for drinks IMO, mind you I only ever went in there with girls who knew girls in there so was probably doing the equivalent of ringing the bell every time I got a round in.

Same location as Secrets, 20mts away, is Grand hotel where I stayed a month ago.

Deluxe Seaview 9th floor with balcony and great views around 1640B per night, but it is a hotel and has a lift.

A more expensive option to Secrets but offers more, remember you drink and go where you want.

I enjoyed my stay there, location is tops for WS activities.

1640 Baht per night !! You can have two rooms in Secrets for that price. Rooms in Secrets are OK, bar is a bit pricey but you don't have to drink there & there is no joiner fee.

Drinks may be on the pricey side but draught beers is still 55thb and also the food is very acceptable in Secrets

Another place to stay may be GreenView about 50 yards from Secrets is Soi15 priced about 800thb but advertised for a lot more at times but they will negotiate the price - no bar there but the rooms are good and clean plus nice staff.

thanks to all for the advice, i went with Secrets hotel. probably dont plan on spending to much time in the bar as i have read many tr on here and find the other agogo's to seem to be more exciting such as Windmill, Babydolls, peppermint, and of course Soi Six. I've realized that there are many great spots to have some fun at so i dont really plan on staying in one place to long. But then again the hell with plans. Would like to know if anyone can suggest any other bars worth giving a look at. oh and i have heard of Devil's Den which i dont think i can pass up. Again thanks for all the reply's. oh one more question. if anyone know of any beer crawls that i could join from april 26th to may 3rd. that would be great. i should say i am going with two other companions.

I stayed at Secrets around 4 months ago.

Great place , very clean and always felt safe. Not sure what many mean by expensive drinks , the bottles of Chang are 60baht.

Where else can you sit in an aircon'd bar with girls dancing for 60baht/drink. Its open early and closes late.

My only gripe is the fairly high barfine's , hot coyote's theres but at 1000baht per fine - no thanks.

So many go-gos and bars in the area you'd be mad to pay 1k BF.

ive stayed at Secrets many times...usually just the first night or two of a trip to be close to WS action...then move to a hotel with more amenities (like a pool and a view). I have always found the place clean and very monger friendly. It is a bit noisy in the rooms until about 3am...good wifi, big showers, average beds, no elevator.

Also, if you rent a scooter, there is a scooter parking garage right next door...which I use all the time when I am staying elsewhere and come to WS for the night's activities...only 20baht to park I think, I forget, the girl usually pays the guy for me.

cheers, alex

I like Secrets a lot. The hotel is good value, clean and well run with helpful staff. The location is superb, and the noise isn't too bad - at least not for the higher rooms. OK, there isn't an elevator, but I don't see this as a huge problem. The bar is really great fun - I have been in there on quite a few occasions and always had a really good time. It is about as classy as Walking Street gets, and very definitely a low pressure bar. If you just want to eat or hang out with the guys, then that is fine - you won't be hassled. I haven't noticed the drink prices being particularly out of line with other places on Walking Street.

Only partly true. This high bar fine is to keep a reasonable number of Coyote dancers in the bar during the evening. After midnight the Coyote bar fine goes down to 600 baht - which is similar to that of most gogos. There are also many very lovely hostesses (this is a hostess bar after all, it isn't a gogo), and the bar fine for them is 450 baht.
