I am full-time sound engineer too as well as a proficient guitarist. I have made a living from the entertainment industry since I was 17, and also contemplated workin in Thailand. Same as anything else, not only the work permit thing, but if a thai can do the same job, not neccessarily to the same standard, it will go to him everytime. Oh, have you seen the quality of some of the gear there? your "college" course will not have prepared you for that!! try and get some "hands on" work, PM me if you want, we work all over the world, and can maybe sort you a little work out!! Cheers

There are a number of decent producers in the hip hop game already in Thailand. It is quite a small scene. Having said that, you could always try and get in the same way you would in any other country - work from the bottom up. Volunteer at a studio, be a gopher, start assisting in production and mixing and work your way from there. However, as has been said, unless you bring something special to the table, then theres no reason a Thai wouldnt get the gig.

Also, try to not pigeon hole yourself so much in terms of the type of music you produce. Everyone is a "hip hop" producer these days....way over saturated.

Good luck.

I don't buy out the bar, I buy the nightspot.
