To connect to Mama Wifi you need to buy a voucher the last time I bought them it was 50 Baht - 1 hour, 100 Baht - 1 day, 250 Baht - 1 week or 500 Baht for 1 month unlimited.

There was a hotel near Soi Buakaow that sold them I don't remember the name of the hotel for directions if coming from the market in Soi Buakaow head towards Pattaya Klang just after the S bend where R-Con Residence is turn right (I think it's called Chaloem Phrakiat 13) there is a big hotel on the left about 3/4 of the way up towards Third Road just ask at reception they sell them.

Gspotman: avoid using Mama wifi, they are down more than they are up and running.

When they work, they are slow more than using ur mobile as modem.

I stayed at R-con in soi Buakao before, and they use Mama.

If u already have mobile, try connect it, and see what speed you get.

Ais, Dtac, True all have daily/weekly and monthly internet packages, that you subscribe to over the phone.

If u need faster connection, go to Hutch on Pattaya Tai, just above Tukcom and Kasikorn Bank.

They have EVDO modem that are much faster than using mobile.

Cost is 17.000 with 1 year free use.

If you want pay by month, you need a Thai to sign up, and u pay around 5.000 cash,

then 1.000 every month (if I remember correct)

Thanks,

Mama didn't work for me so I'll try these options when I return. Mama suggested that I get a refund and I did so they are at least honest.

Appreciate your help!

I have been using 3G Watcher the past year and I have never had a problem getting a connection in either Pattaya or Bangkok. It is a modem that inserts into the modem port on your PC or laptop. You load it just like you do your cell phone. You buy 12Call at 7/11 or Family Mart. You take the SIM card out of the modem and insert into your phone...add the load...reinsert into modem and you are ready to go. It cost me 5000 for the modem at the "tuk com". 500 Baht will last me a couple of months, so I'm not sure of cost per hour. The speed is 7mb per sec...not fast by western standards but ok for Thailand. In the Philippines I use Smart Bro which attaches to the USB port on my laptop, but it is the same principle you load SIM on your cell phone. Good Luck.

I'm moving next week to PTY, any update on how to get wireless in my rented apartment near central soi baokao? The building doesn't have wireless and I don't have a fone line to the room if this helps?

Thanks :)
