Chiang Mai Maesa Elephant Camp

Hi Mate, I was there back in December '09 and was very impressed with paintings. Judging by the amount of people waving the cash I'd say they do pretty well out of it too. Bit put off by the riders with those nasty hooks they stick in the back of the elephants necks when they want them to do something.

Cheers for the pics

As a local resident, I always take visitors to the Mae Sa elephant-camp, OK the 'show' is a bit touristy, but the setting of the camp amongst the tall trees in a narrow valley is just superb, and the elephant-ride is a great experience.

Be aware that, although they'll likely try to sell you a 1-hour ride, they also do a 1/2-hour & short (10-15 minutes) ride, if you ask/insist.

It's also an amazing experience just to get up-close and feed these wonderful creatures !

Worth a visit i guess, i will be traveling to Chaing Mai on my upcoming trip. See what else ThaiLand has to offer besides mongering (however i will make a stop in Patts). Elephants rides seem cool and would be good to have some photo of something besides girls. Something to show the family.

Thanks for the pictures - I was there in January 2010 and it's quite something.

Did you get to go to the Orchid Garden and ride the ATVs? I only managed the Orchid garden since I was taking my dad around with me and couldn't do the ATVs...

Cheers
