I have been staying at the LEK hotel on 2nd street (soi 13) for my last 4 trips to Pattaya. This last trip (Oct 2009), the LEK has excluded the breakfast buffet from the cost of the room. So, you now must pay 110 Baht for breakfast. The buffet breakfast is pretty good, and I think the cost is a good deal, but I am disappointed that it now is not included in the room rate. Additionally, there is a sister "hotel" named: "LEK Villa" which is not the same property. I have not been able to get a response back from the LEK Villa, and the desk personnel at the LEK Hotel tell me that it is a "different" site, and that I should get replys, still I have not.

Additionally, the LEK has an older section which I have not stayed in, and I am told is a lesser price lot of rooms.

Overall, while the LEK Hotel is (IMHO) moderately priced, it is a good place for farang's like me to stay. So, I recommend it, giving it about an 8+ on a 1 - 10 scale.

Guest friendly, there is a desk "officer" on duty who takes ID cards, and records the information. I believe that he also makes a copy of the ID card.

The pool is not too bad, as far as Thai hotel pools go. The property, is clean, and has a "newer" look and feel. Laundry service is good, returning your clothes same day if set out early.

Thanks for the review. This road is my favourie location and I used to stay at Sandy Spring but the high season surcharge in a rip off IMO. My mate's thai bird said she could get a deal at the Lek for us, I think they were going to reduce it by 100 thb per day. Went elsewhere in the end.

My Pattaya budget is perfectly adequate as long as I don't spend any of it

I've never stayed there but the buffet is great for the price. I always eat there when I'm in town.

It's handy enough for most things. I stayed there quite a bit in '07, as did friends.

The old, smaller rooms were 850 then, but their policy was to tell you they were full and push you into the new rooms first, at 1200-1800.

I only ever used the buffet once, even though it was included. I thought it was rubbish and we used the Ritz round the corner or elsewhere (if we got up before noon - maybe it's improved.

The pool is OK and it's generally quite nice and easy to find.
