JUST TO BE CLEAR GUYS

we are well aware it's a fucking disgrace, believe or not we are not proud of the Henry's hand, we are feel VERY SORRY for the Irish team and the Irish people.

and BELIEVE OR NOT 80% French people admit we don't worth the qualification to the world cup with this referee mistake, Irish players played better far away than our players.

PLEASE don't be stupid with the French team and accuse us, it's a TOTAL REFEREE FAULT, he is the real guilty not Henry FFS !!!

What will happened if the video replay was launched and authorised ? goal cancelled of course.

SO PLEASE, be more clever than the others, i don't want read the usual stupid stuffs about the French country and people.

Thx.

I agree the bulk of the blame laid upon ther referee and linesmen. I wonder what would have happened had Henry admitted the hand ball to the referee? How many players would have admitted it in such an important match for their country? I won't pretend to know the answer.

I do know that Henry was the most skillful player I ever saw with my own two eyes and that he would have been even bigger in my eyes if he had admitted it to the referee at the time. On the other hand I don't think much less of him for taking advantage of the blunder, but then I'm not from Ireland.

Henry is a coward of a player and always has been, I watched him at Highbury maybe 90 times over 6/7 seasons, in big games he never turned up he could have won the Euro Cup but bottled it with us, then he went to Barca and bottled a header the year Man won.

His big time attitide talking down to the likes of Ashley Cole when he was a nipper was disgracefull, sure he is talented but a coward and now a cheat.

A big time charlie he plays goo v poor opposition, no more than a park player when it dont matter...

So you are speaking on behalf of the 80% what about the other 20%,i can say that 100% of the Irish people also think France are not worth the qualification to the world cup.

I'm fucking sick and tired of hearing its not Henry's fault "its the ref's" fuck that it is Henry's fault.

The other 20% want to go in the world cup, they don't care about the hand, but i'm not in this part.

You are fucking sick about Henry fault ? do you really think Henry taken his time and did a voluntary hand ?

with the speed of the ball, it's impossible to make a voluntary hand and give the ball to Gallas... !

IT'S THE ROLE OF THE REFEREE to cancel this goal, Henry is not the fucking guilty !!!

anyway consider what you want...

Cheat? Yes.....but in a high pressure situation at a crucial time in a crucial game, how many players would have played the honest card under those circumstances? As I said before, I would have seen him as a bigger man if he had of told the referee himself at the time.

he could have won the Euro Cup but bottled it with us

Could you expand on this please, I don't really understand what you mean.My praise was only directed towards his skill as a player.

I'll never forget watching him off the ball at Highbury once. Arsenal were positioning themselves for a free kick near Shefield Wednesday's penalty area. Henry was man marked. I watched him slow down his body movements so the defender relaxed, he then very slowly strolled away from him, like he didn't have a concern in the world. If he had suddenly made a run away the defender would have been on to him but Henry's relaxed body language lulled him into a false sense of security. Once he had strolled clear of the defender the ball was passed to him, he accelerated forward and to his left, ran 15 yards and then knocked it low past the keeper on the near post.

If you read my post you will see that i said im sick and tired of HEARING its not Henry's fault.

"with the speed of the ball, it's impossible to make a voluntary hand and give the ball to Gallas... !" what kind of bullshit is that to say,he handled the ball TWICE incase you didnt notice.

Its the role of the player to play the game fairly and its the role of the referee to enforce it.

Thierry Henry is a cheat plain & simple,i always rated him as a player but like a lot of other people i now think he is a cunt.

I have watched the replay several times and at no stage did i see the ref pushing Henry's hand towards the ball (twice!!!)

Henry intentionally broke the rules of the game. He is guilty of cheating and deserves to be blamed. HE IS NOT INNOCENT.

The ref and linesman missed it so they are also guilty of incompetence and should also be blamed but the blame can not be laid only at thier feet.

I do agree that this issue should be taken as being an incident at a football game and should not be used as an excuse to have a go at the French nation or its people.

Thanks MaGik,your commiserations are appreciated.Nobody wants to win by cheating, and the only fair resolution would be a replay of the match. This is very unlikely to happen,as Platini and Blatter were counting on France and Russia qualifying from their respective encounters. The fact that play -off teams were seeded in the first place was a late change to the rules, because France Russia and Portugal had not automatically qualified.Incidentally, isnt it strange that Ireland were the only non seeded team having to play the 2nd leg away from home? The advantage being ,that any extra time would be on the pitch in Paris.Platini and Blatter dare not risk a replay,in case France go out as well as Russia, losing them another potential huge tv audience.By the way, what does "the luck of the Irish" actually mean?

Personally, I am emotionally not too much involved in this dispute, because my country did not qualify for the soccer WC since 1792.

I just wonder why the Irish justice minister Dermot Ahern has to raise his voice instead of letting the FIFA and the teams solve this issue.

History shows that it is always a bad idea when politics get involved in sports.

Henry to blame? Yes - he acted like a cheat, but he should have been caught. So, he can only be partly to blame for the abject situation football finds itself in.

The match officials to blame? Yes - they got the decision wrong through failing to spot that Henry was cheating; but, as Henry already has part of the blame, they too can only be partly to blame.

FIFA, Platini & Blatter to blame? Yes - because the cheating and the incorrect decision could have been spotted and immediately corrected by the use of technology as simple as a video replay to a video referee. Then, there would have been no need for talk of replays, no mass hysteria and no threats of recriminations.

At the end of the day, the biggest part of the shambolic failure continues to lie with the game's arrogant administrators, the last of the sporting Luddites, who refuse to recognise that the best way to support their match officials is by following other sports in checking key decisions via technology.

The French to blame? Mais oui, but only in so far as they have given us all Platini, his sole agenda seeming to be to try to humiliate the English Premier League and ignore everything else.

He said that he did tell the ref,and the ref told him "I'm the ref not you".

Well, if that is true, and he told him immediately before the restart I fail to see what else he could do?

FIFA must be privately cursing the officials for severly embarrassing them. Some form of technology is way overdue but Blatter is more interested in reelection, and making sure his cronies like Jack Warner continue to bring in the votes for him.

Henry will probably get a frosty reception at the World Cup finals. Expect him to retire from International Football after the tournament. His best days are behind him in any case.

Henry isnt really to blame tho. The players will always try and get away with stretching/bending/breaking rules and will leave it to match officials to make the decision. The solution is a tough one but the retrospective punishment as in rugby would be a start for cutting out diving.

The bottom line with all team sports such as soccer/rugby is the laws are often open to interpretation by the match officials, which is why so many bad or controversial calls are discussed endlessly for weeks after they occur.

As a completely disinterested American who has never heard of this dude before the threads on the topic I'll toss in my completely unbiased opinion.

He used his hands! Even us barbarians understand this is against the rules. He broke the rules. That makes him a cheat in my book.

just back from Pattaya today.

i enjoyed the game.

we are in the World Cup, That s the most important.

i can understand Irish are pissed off but shits happens every weeks in Sport.

Unlucky, it was the biggest game for Irish football.

Next time, maybe??

ps: same situation for Robbie Keane, would he have left the ball go out the ground or would he have gone for the Henry Tactic?? mmmmmm i think i know the answer.

I'm a big fan of Henry and think his admission of wrongdoing was as graceful as could be done considering the circumstances. Though he did touch the ball, it did look like a reflexive rather than deliberate movement. Truly sucks for Ireland, though. Sorry.

Besides that, the big scandal of game fixing that came out last week in Germany shows how bent the refs are.
