Pattaya Climate

Recommended Posts

Someone asked about the weather in Pattaya at a certain time of the year. I thought I would put the answer here so that it can be found easier.

I stole this from somewhere:

Pattaya enjoys a tropical wet and dry climate, which is divided into the following seasons: warm and dry (November to February), hot and humid (March to May), and hot and rainy (June to October). The most comfortable time of year coincides with the peak tourist season, which is over the Christmas and New Year period.

....and this from somewhere else.

Three distinct seasons in Pattaya

Warm, Dry Season : (November to February)

- Short sharp showers (known as Mango rains). Humidity around 50% Temperature from 20-30 C. The best time to enjoy the nice weather. Recommend your prospective visitors to come in this season.

Hot, Dry Season : (February to May)

- Occasional rain. Humidity around 75%. Temperature from 30-40 C. Watch the spectacular thunder storms from a safe place, not the golf course!

Warm, Wet (Monsoon) Season : (June to October)

- Heavy prolonged rain. Humidity approximately 90%. Temperature from 25-35 C. The monsoon season need not keep you in, an umbrella is more useful than rainwear.

As long as the air conditioners are working in the bars when I get there in November I will be happy.

:D

The weather right now in June is just perfect. The TG does not like aircon and I got used to sleeping with the ceiling fan only. We can have a good session in bed without me getting a sweat up. :Cry4: . I lived in a cold country when I was a kid. Fuck that and commiserations to all of you guys living in non-tropical places. :Clap1:

The important thing to remember is to keep fluid intake up to combat dehydration which really saps your energy whatever the weather. When it rains I'm quite happy in a bar practising this.

I have been there in all seasons and never found the weather to be a problem as my mind has been on the other attractions??? If it's too hot spend some time relaxing in an air condition room. The rain is always hot and your clothes dry quickly. Oh i wish i was there now.

The rain in Pattaya tends to come in short, intense cloudbursts. Most last only a few minutes but some will last a couple of hours. Even in the rainy season (July, August and September) there will be plenty of sunshine, heat, and humidity.

Lightweight, casual clothing is recommended and I try to avoid walking in the mid-day sun, whatever the season. Umbrellas can protect you from the sun and the rain and I usually carry a small one everywhere.

While I never use baby powder in Farangland, I use it every day in Thailand to feel comfy and avoid chafing while walking or sitting in the humid climate. Baby powder can also make a long airplane ride a lot more comfortable.

I always buy a fan when I come to Thailand (cost approximately 600 baht). After the first week or so, I tend to adapt to the heat and use the fan much of the time rather than the air con. When I leave, the fan always stays behind to keep a Thai friend comfy.

Excellent point on the powder Slow Hand, I've lived in tropical/semi-tropical climates most of my adult life, and yes powder is absolutely a must. First went to P I in early 60's, was miserable with heat rash, started using Ammen's powder, problem solved, still use it to this day. Love the tropic's, and do well in most cases w/o the A/C

That so much reminds me of Jamaica in September. Hot, humidity at 70% and almost a daily shower for about an hour.
