The informer system is clearly working well at the moment.

Pattaya, 3 November 2009,[PDN]: a large team of police, conducted a lightning raid in the early hours of 2 November on the Encore Hotel, Pattaya, where there was an illegal casino operating. The police successfully arrested eight foreigners and three Thai females, before they managed to escape, being caught with over Bt2 million.

In a collaborative operation, three teams from Pattaya and Chonburi Tourist Police, armed with an arrest warrant, swooped down on the luxury Encore Hotel, located at 109/29 Soi Pratumnak 14, Moo. 10, at 2am, on 2 November, after learning that the hotel had been operating an illicit casino for quite some considerable time. The three police teams, consisting over 20 officers, were led by Pol.Col. Sarayut Sa-Ngoun poh Kai, Pattaya superintendent, Pol. Col. Athiswis kamonrat, Chonburi tourist Superinterdent and Pol.lt.Col. Chusak Kaythong, respectively.

The 6-storey hotel building has a beer bar and reception on the ground floor, with accommodation on the 3rd and the 4th floors, but it was the 2nd floor that was the police target. When the plain-clothed police arrived at the casino, many customers were milling around and walking in and out, with the hotel staff acting as security.

The police first, arrested Miss Pornpansa Sombatmak,[27], the owner who was downstairs, keeping a watch on the customers. Meanwhile, the rest of the police team sealed off Room 301, on the 2nd floor, where they found a 10-person gambling ring playing poker. Though caught in the act, the offenders tried to escape but they were all caught by the police.

The gamblers included five Finns, two Swedes, and an Israeli, all men aged between 23-52, as well as two Thai women who claimed they were waitresses, only there to serve drinks to the gamblers.

They were all charged with illicit gambling, apart from the owner who was charged with using part of her premises as an illegal casino. The 11 miscreants were subsequently taken into custody.

It will be costing them a fair few baht all right and a few days in the cells.

I'd rather look at tits, cunts and arseholes than listen to them!
