French Le Mans MotoGP at the Ace Cafe, Jomtien this Sunday.

Recommended Posts

Any petrol heads out there looking for a decent venue to watch the Le Mans MotoGP this Sunday? And by decent I mean in a bar/cafe with a couple of well placed TV's, surround sound (of the race, not background bar music), zero chicken farm chatter, complimentary bar snacks (and somtam for the missus!), clean khazi, friendly service, a great selection of beers and ciders and a decent bunch of regulars. In fact, don't just come for the race, come for a great fun social Sunday afternoon and evening!

As for the race itself... unlike the Shanghai race of 2 weeks ago where Stoner and his amazingly quick Ducati left "The Doctor" in their wake thanks to not one but two 320kmph straits, the Bugatti Le Mans circuit is (quote) "a tight track dominated by 1st gear corners with emphasis on late braking and hard acceleration" which should suit Rossi, his Yamaha and his experience perfectly. In other words, it's gonna be a corker of a race!

So, we'll see you ate the Ace Cafe then eh?

Where are you and what time does the 500 race start? Been a real rossie fan for years but being an ozzie would love to see stoner take out the championship.

We are at Hanuman Corner in Jomtien. Take the Jomtien road from Pattaya, you'll go over Thapraya hill where all the road widening stuff is going on at the mo; as you come down the hill you'll go through a set of traffic lights with Theprasit road leading off to your left. At the lights go straight on for a couple hundred yards.... where the road turns sharply right to head off down to the beach you'll see, on your left, a golden statue in a small roundabout, then a parade of shops with a 7-Eleven on the corner. Go into the main car park by the 7-Eleven and park up. (Do not take the sharp right hander that leads down past all the bars to the beach..... if you do, you've gone too far!) The Ace Cafe is the last shophouse on that parade. Main race (500's? They're all on max 800cc's now) should start at 7pm. Hope to see you here!
