Nice new rooms and good location. No joiner fees, only downside for me was that there was no pool.

I stayed there last year for a month over the hollidays and thought it offered good value.

The room I had was very large compared to most hotels or guest houses.

The utilities were not overpriced.

The location is good, at least for me, with inexpensive local fresh food available across the street in the evenings, many local shops, bars, and resturants in the area. (For those who do not know, R-Con is located about 2 blocks south of Pattaya Central Road on Soi Buckow, east side at the small jog in the road.)

The hotel is relatively new, but has Thai management which means things can be a bit loose with regard to housekeeping, keeping the internet connected in the lobby, and the number of channels available on the cable TV. They offer wireless internet by the week or month for extra money, but I did not try it because I was affraid that if it did not work I would probably not get my money back due to my not having any faith in management to maintain a reliable connection.

Overall, would I stay there again? Maybe, but next time I will try something different and use R-Con as a defalt location.

Hope this helps,

Carl

Thanks Carl and Yumster, will probably try it as prices for rooms look good value!

I'm thinking about staying a month here myself, and they quoted me 1,000THB for monthly internet connection, but the rooms wee cheap enough..

I'm guessing this place is guest friendly?

Posted

it definitely is guestfriendly. I enjoyed my stay there and would go back. I don't need a pool so that's no problem 4 me.

housekeeping done til 4 or 5 pm. wireless is xpensive but at 1k thb a month that's pretty ok comparde to the rates they charge by the hour.

rooms spacious and clean, very competitive rates.nice room design and furniture. only downside is the shower where hardly 2 people fit into and its in the same cubicle as the toilet

I've spent most of my money on women, fast cars and alcohol. The rest I've just wasted. George Best RIP

I stayed there for 2 months, clean enough though hard to sleep, people coming & going all night & maid service starts too early, so not much sleep in the day either. On long term you pay separately for electric & water, they get you there. They got me 4000 to 5000 on electric & hardly used the aircon. Caught out the maids putting the air on for cleaning & watching TV. I wouldn't stay there again. If yor on a short holiday it may be ok. Good Position.

Stayed there the other year R-Con Great hotel for the money I thought. Girl friendly Etc on soi Buakoa, so plenty of local bars to crawl around. If it rains you can always hire a dvd player from reception... or get a massage!! :FunnyShit1:

No pool... can't swim, no problem! Don't go on holiday with my laptop, so I dont need the TinTerNet, No problem!

Have a great time in Pattaya

Cricky! 4000+ for electricity. Sounds very much like a rip off to me too. Do they advertise the electricity rates anywhere, were you told what they charge prior to you setting foot in the door etc

I was there a month and it cost me about 10'000Bht booking with Hotels2Thailnd. What did they charge for a month. I presume you just waliked in off the street and checked in?

Any way thanks for the information.

PS had no problems sleeping but, the shower was really small

These are the prices advertised on their web site. I guess you need to check the meter before moving in and record the numbers for your own protection. I think some one may have done their sums wrong somewhere.

How can you stay a month for 10'000 Bht, and the electricity bill be half again. That makes your stay 15'000Bht Mmmmmm!

Monthly and Long Stay Services

• Water charge: 28 Baht per unit (Pay according to the water meter)

• Electricity: 8 Baht per unit (Pay according to the electric meter)

• Full set of bed linen and towels (replaced weekly)

Thanks for the waring

I think that there has been a great deal of mis-understanding regarding R-con charges throughout this thread for reasons below.I stayed there for 1 month in a very nice large room (50 SQ/mts) in November last at a cost of 14000 bht + elect/water (2390) bht.I read the meter on arrival and departure no problems.Electric is 8 bht/unit which I agree is a big mark-up but pretty average.

Soi Sauce I believe your 10,000 bht price was a promotional offer on opening, but has long ago disappeared unfortunately.

In "Austhai" post he stated that he paid 4000/5000 bht electric which I read as his bill for TWO months, and not just ONE, which is not in any way excessive or a rip off.

To avoid the corridor noise at night I suggest you get a room on the front side which is at the end of the corridor and therefore very quiet, well worth paying the extra for this as it is also where the better/bigger rooms are located.

At the end of the day you only get what you pay for, and again IMHO this place is far better value and far superior value than the likes of many LKMetro guesthouses, who are charging 20,000+ for a comparable room in the LOW season, with not even an elevator, or the Sunview Place especially now the greedy owners there have seen fit to award us a price increase in these hard times, still TIT and the logic makes sense to them.

Saberthrust - How often did they change towels / bedsheets? How much would they charge extra per day/week?

Did you stay at the 45 or 50SM room? Have you tried their internet?

Thanks a lot.

On a Monthly rate towels/bed linen/room cleaning is done once every week only.If you are referring to these services in your "Extra" per fay/week comment, I don/t know as never bothered to ask.

I stayed in the "Phufah" room on the 6th floor on the front of the building overlooking the "S" bend, room was 45 sq mts + balcony.Leaving the balcony slider/windows and door open during daytime hours cut out the need for A/C useage, as a good breeze whipped through everyday.

Next time I stay there I will buy a cheap electric fan and cut out 95% of A/C use altogether, this I believe will pay for itself within 1st 10 days, plus I don't like A/C anyway.

Internet I wouldn't know about as I used closeby cafes when needed, very cheap.

Pros: central location in soi Buakao, next to 7-Eleven and night market. Many bars, massage, and girls in the area and songtaew (taxi) outside your door every 30 second.

Cons: internet down many times, security dont take complaint serious at night, noisy area, noisy guests (many group bookings).

All rooms have the Smallest Bathroom you will ever see in Thailand - warning!(I think it was 0.80m x 1,5m).

TV : NO sophon or Banglamung cable, only the black dish with almost no english channels. This is not the place, if you like stay in ur room and watch movies.

Fridge: very small hotel type minibar, not easy to stock up with ice and bottles.

Recommended for those who like to party and live in the heart of a busy area, and easy sleeper.

Not recommended for people who want to sleep at night, or need reliable Internet connection.

Wifi is best used at the R- con if your in a room on the front side of the building facing Pattaya Klang ( Central Pattaya rd )

On the other hand the Easy R- con bar downstairs offers free Wi-Fi to all customers.. the free wi-fi can reach the 5th floor!

Also the outdoor garden/eating area is re-opened and has a Professional Pool table at a cheap hourly rate..

Dry Area out the back Bar for SONGKRAN..

Don't worry about bath/shower problem, no room for a bath anyway. Biggest drawback IMO is the dog kennel size of toilet/shower! :GoldenSmile1:

Toilet and shower in the same tiny area - forget shower for two.

great rooms , worst shower in Thailand. The shower and the toilet is in the same tiny area t=really crap.

Not far from there is Soi Honey, there are new hotels there (about a year or so old) that offer rooms about 11,000 a month. The rooms and showers are great, full sophon cable and free wifi. Best of all water and electric included

Do a search on google for casa de lobos ---great hotel
