Wheels to Khon Kaen

Any travel advisors abound...I am going to BKK-Pattaya for a few weeks in December. I am looking to during this time get to

Khon Kaen for a few days.

I would think the route to take would be from BKK to Khon Kaen. Can anyone advise on a good bus schedule or train. I hear for

a fair price the train is the way to go, but what is the proximity from the BKK airport and such and fee's.

On a side note, I hear the Rada nightclub in one of the hotels is the place to be???

Any assistance would be appreciated.... :Chokdee::001_Thank_You5:

You can get the NCA express bus to Khon Kaen direct from Pattaya. Not sure of the scedules but the bus station is at the top of pattaya klang on the main highway.

To the best of my knowledge the train (2nd class AC) is a bit more expensive that the AC buses. I thing around 600-700Bt. I live in KK for about 3 years and checked out the trains some months ago, but my Thai friends talked me out of it saying the trains are too slow. Bus seems the better way to go. There are also flights BKK to KK.

Have travelled by plane a few times you can book online or just take number like cheese counter in tescos in ticket office in airport, take your turn and pay on the day. Hour or less the flight. Sandwich and orange juice thrown in.

the bus drivers drive like fuckin manaiacs! I have made the roundtrip 3 times now in the last year. Next time we go village--- I'm taking the plane. 120kph down a narrow winding road at 3am in a 2 story bus is fucking insane!

Travel with NCA buses they change drivers half way on the BKK-Khon Kaen route & have a very good safety record. All buses are single deckers the first class only take 21 passengers great reclining seats & individual TV screens films shown with English language & a hostess on board

You want the Northern Terminal (Mo Chit) for buses to the Isaan region

I went on Chan Tour VIP from Mo Chit (Northern BKK terminal).

I cannot remember the price but it was a few hundred Baht at most.

Bus was over night and arrived around 08.00am, I think left around midnight but they were pretty frequent if I remember right.

It had wide and fully reclining seats where as you go back the foot rest comes us so pretty much a bed. Also personal TV, food supplied etc.

On the nightclub scene, I think you mean RAD (not Rada). Yes its large and very popular especially with the student crowd. You will see the Beemers, Mercs etc in the car park so dont go goosing the girls in there or you likely to get a nasty wake up cal from the boyfriend 555.

hotels

I stayed at The Glacier first time. This is very close to RAD

Second time I stayed at the Pullman but have to say I preferred the Glacier.

Pullman is more central but further from RAD. That said the two hotels are less than 10 minutes walk apart so its not a big deal. Pullman is closer to the markets etc in the city.

Both booked Via Agoda

Stayed at the Glacier last weekend. Fantastic service. The room was spotless but furniture a bit scuffed. Some pics in my recent TR in my signature.

If your on a budget then Eco place is good value for money but its 3 km from the centre to town.
