anywhere else a continuous disregard for the law would result in authorities applying grave repercussions to not only act as a deterrent but to emphasise their authority but in Thailand the repercussions are ...

I'd be very surprised if the owners give a 'rat's arse'. By it's very nature Insomnia will attract a certain amount of patrons who feel the need to enhance their evening with prohibited drugs. The owners know full well that this is a temporary blip and comes with the territory...although they may want to adjust their tea-money contributions. The punters will return the next day like clockwork.

Insomnia must be a big cash cow for the BiB. Why would they want to close it down.

Really is a cash cow, wonder how many people so far are getting locked away or fined.

It's a good fight against the use of drugs and users but it sure kills the clean party-people their lust for party that evening! As for the claim of late hours opening that's really a laugh as that will happen every day in every disco in Pattaya!

Is it mainly foreigners using drugs here? I'd be too scared of the repercussions of getting caught. That is trouble I'd rather avoid while on holiday and in a public place!

 

There was one time in Cambodia when I noticed a bag of dope under one of the beds. One of my buddies wanted to smoke it up - I threw it out the window. The next day I read that sometimes hotels there leave dope in rooms, and then somehow, out of nowhere, the police will come in and raid the room, "find" the dope and then bust you for possession. Of course, the problem can be resolved with an on-the-spot fine to be paid in cash, a proportion of which goes to the hotel.

 

Anyone heard of this happening in Thailand?
