XBOX 360 Question

Fellas, need a heads up.

I want to modify my console here in Australia, its a PAL console. The dude who is doing it told me that I cant modify it to make it region free which means I cant play the games I would buy in Thailand.

Anyone know anything about this stuff. In the past, I bought a PS2 console already modified but that was in LOS so the games would work a treat.

Anyone have any idea?

I don't buy out the bar, I buy the nightspot.

If the guy is putting in the latest chip then it will play copy games no problem!!

Thanks mate. I know it will play copy games but the region of the games is what worries me.

If your having it chipped it should make you machine region free also! The chip i have in mine (sorry dont know the name) plays any region and copy games!

Danny make sure your chip version in your xbox is a Jasper chipset, if not the machine will overheat and malfunction within a month or 6 weeks..

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction - "it was just the internet.." is not an excuse.

Well, it's not hard to modify it. Hell, you don't even need a custom chip installed. All you have to do is flash the ROM in the disk drive. The way it works is that the system starts up and sends a signal to the disk drive asking if the software is legit and what region it is. The default software on the ROM in the disk drive then checks and sends a message back to the main system. If you get custom software on the disk drive's ROM then it will just send back saying what the system wants to hear without bothering to check. Works great, I've done it myself. Only problem with doing this is that it's going to void your warranty and frankly we're talking about the Xbox 360. This thing crashes more often than Lindsay Lohan in a Tiawana crack den.

so much wrong information in this thread.

FYI, there is no Xbox360 'chip', you cann;t make the Xbox360 Region Free regardless and if the Thailand games are NTSC, they WILL NEVER WORK on your console.

you can only play PAL games, you need to flash the firmware of the box.

and the whole thing about requiring to have a Jasper 'chip' (its not a chip, its a console revision) is meaningless I have had 4 360's since launch and only one has failed in that 5 or 6 years.

tl;dr you can't play NTSC games on a PAL console regardless if you have modified the firmware or not.

look for some games that are RF (Region Free) which will play on all consoles.

i bought some 360 games from tukcom a few trips a go and 1of 5 of them worked, the one that worked was an older game and my friend had an older chip. so if u have the latest chip they should work fine

good luck

...but then again FUCK XBOX 360!!! PS3 all the way!!!!!!!!!!!

theres no chips as such, as long as it is PAL on a PAL console and you have the correct firmware it should work.

if you have an older firmware and the game won't boot, it's because of a thing called Waves. Each update has a different/new 'wave' on the disc, if your old firmware doesn't check for that wave it wont boot.

you can get a program to patch the games yourself to boot on any wave,

although just look on youtube, modding your xbox drive yourself is easy and will take you about 10 minutes. if anyone needs help, message me in PM.
