I will be back in the LOS soon and looking at the web site for the above. There is a fair bit of traffic re the above but not too much recent objective comment.

Not sure if it was right to start a new topic - but here we go.

Does anyone have a recent and real review, including service, location, additional costs etc.

There are plenty of bad rip off reports about this place.

http://www.pattaya-addicts.com/forum/index.php?/topic/44023-penthouse-hotel/

Just google and have a look around. Its run by a bunch of thugs, every time we have a bad report on addicts, I get threatened by them to take it down. Of course I don't take it down, if its honest. We did remove one that was clearly made by an angry ex manager, he was so annoyed, but as it was slanderous it was against the RULES.

They used a script to start spamming members on the forum, it totally slowed down the server til it was a grinding hault, I phoned them and asked them never to do it again, they denied it. Then a week later they were at it again, I was fuming with them, and I got spoken down to by the manager as though I didn't have a clue about the script they were using.

In short, you may be charged alot of extra things, they tend to prey on the new guys. I have no doubt that the customer service is probably a punch in the face if you complain too much.

The place is a rip off skank house....

Last year used it for a short time. They tried to get 12k for one night.... After 10 minutes of telling them I was not going to pay that, I finally grabbed their menu sheet and told them "Look, that price is not even on the sheet, I want this room for 2300 baht" Then I got the room... I was very dirty and smelly. I had my root and fucked off without telling them, never to return.

Enough said - thanks guys.

I was well aware of the negative reports prior to my first visit there last year. I even went by the place to inspect a couple of rooms, after which I decided to stay there on the next trip. It seemed decent enough, so decided to stay on there on my next visit. I've now stayed there on 4 different trips within the last year. You might search my posts to read my previous comments.

If you really are still considering staying there, call them and reserve a room, as well as reserving some other hotel, at which you will stay at least on your first night. Go over to Penthouse, and if it's not to your liking, then don't even pay for first night. Just make sure to go look at the room, and if you are satisfied, then go down and pay them. They try to get you to pay for your whole stay when you check in. I only pay for the first night. I never get an argument from them.

The last two times I've been there (August 2009 was last visit) I've asked to upgrade to the Patpong Suite, but apprently they have kept those fully booked. The only issue I have had was the noise from KittenClub, which can be avoided if you don't stay in one of the rooms directly above the club. Make sure of this.

I also liked the Baron Beach hotel.

Cheers Bria,

I will not stay there on my next trip but I will go visit.

There are many better places.

It seems to be setup to extract huge amounts of money from those who are to rich to care.

There are a lot of services avaible in rooms. They go the extra mile to provide all sorts of things you can do.

However everything has a very heavy price tag.

Same with kitten club.

Its an ok place for a drink, but there are to many reports of padded bills.

They've tried it on me once, and to be fair to them they changed it when i explained the error.

If you have baht to burn and want the sex swings and hot tubs in your room then maybe its worth looking it.

Otherwise i'd give it a miss.

I went to the Kitten Club ,as my first port of call last Dec/Jan and had a great time there.I meet the owner and his family, and found them to be honest but not really in touch with their business.

I really enjoyed the ambiance in the club and met some pretty and intelligent girls.Ok it was expensive, but the prices were still 20% of those in Europe.I would never go to a Lady boy bar but mixing pre and post op lady boys with normal girls gave the place a bit of an edge, for people watching

Only stayed once. 18 months ago. Could not leave soon enough - a shit house. Unless something seriously drastic has happened in the last 12 months, (which I know has not) I would give this place a wide berth - 100's of better places.

One of the first places I stayed..granted many years ago...It was crap...overpriced and not value for money at all....there are hundreds of better places.

With respect to Bira. having to be that cautious about your hotel suggests just don't bother with it. There are so many friendly easy places to stay.

I know this hotel gets mixed reviews. I stayed there a little over a year ago for about 10 days. I would consider this a "novelty" hotel. I had a Patpong suit as I recall. It had a King (maybe queen), jacuzzi bath/shower, mirrors on the ceiling, a hanging sex swing, stage with pole, etc ... pretty wild for a hotel room. I did not have any problems there and the daily rate was around 2800 Thb.

The Kitten Club (lady bar) and Obsessions (ladyboy bar) are REALLY one bar. doesn't matter where you sit both lady and ladyboys will approach you until the figure out what you want. There seemed to be a lot of pressure to take a girl up stairs and to buy lots of girls drinks ... not time to relax and enjoy the Go-Go part of the show. I didn't care for that too much.

I would only recommend for those looking for the novelty of the unique rooms. I'm not aware of other hotels like this ... if anyone is aware of better ones with similar novelty please post a reply.

reading some of the other posts I have to say I was not aware of any criminal element and the hotel desk staff seemed helpful.

OH, one last thing. At the time I took them up on their special limo pick-up with two ladies to ride from BKK to Pattaya. I arrived from USA at like 7 am, and had some trouble connecting with the driver. No sign with my name on it and ended up having to call the hotel to get them to call him. Anyway, finally got connected and got to the van. There were two beautiful women to greet me with champagne ... but it was obvious they had worked all night and were barely moving. Shortly after we got on the road they were both sound asleep for the ride to Pattaya. I brought this up at the front desk and it was like talking to a wall. I think they eventually sent an extra bottle of champaign to my room. All that to say ... I DO NOT recommend the VIP van service. Get an air-conditioned cab to drive you, get some extra winks, save your Thb and just have fun when you get to Pattaya!

Take care

For the room give The Vault a try next time. For transport try the Devils Den.
