My Mate last week was quoted 6000 baht at the airport.

He argued about this as he has been here before and told them he paid 1500.

He finally got one at 2500.

 

Beware as the AOT has cleaned up the unregistered taxis so the aresholes are trying to over charge in true Thai fashion!!!

There were actually 2 reasons behind what they did coming after unregistered companies and drivers. They had quite a large group of guys working together running scams out of the airport. Many of these people were doing things we hear about like car switches and the sort, as well as ripping off tourists. They did a sweep and got one of the larger gangs off the road. This is good news, because we have had customers tell us that their driver was asking for their room number once they greeted them, and even having someone that spoke good English talking to them. The customers said the guys that were there to pick them up made them feel really uncomfortable. The catch to this one, is that my wife was the driver sent out to pick these customers up, so there should not have been any man there to meet them. These groups work by seeing the info from a legitimate drivers sign, writing up a sign themselves, and waiting at the gate exits prior to where the other drivers are. So as these customers pass their actual driver, they are not even bothering to look for their names anymore. Because of a lot of the bad press that was coming out of these types of situations, the police got involved to take them out of the picture, and put a nice big picture in the paper saying they got all of them, although thats most likely an exaggeration.

 

As well, they were coming after the independent guys, and drivers with no company affiliations. Our prices still remain at 1100baht all in with tolls, and booking the pickup and return together sets the price at 1900baht total. Also, keep in mind, the prices listed on the website, are higher than the prices given to BM's, so please specify that your from the board to get the discounted prices.
