"5 rooms broken into during Soi Beokeow hotel robbery.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Chayaporn from Pattaya Police Station was called to the 18 Coin Inn in Soi Beokeow on Tuesday Night after occupants of 5 rooms reported the theft of valuables. Police inspected each room and noticed that the room safes had disappeared and forced entry had been made to each room. hotel staff mentioned that the occupant of room number 309 may be involved in the case. The room was inspected and two room safes were found inside and the occupant had disappeared. hotel Staff mentioned that the occupant of the room was Mr. Jean Luc Michel aged 42 from France. He had checked in on 7th May but did not fill out a registration form as he had no passport. Despite this, the hotel allowed him to rent a room. He is now prime suspect in this case of theft and is now being sought by Police."

How do they let pricks check in without a passport

He obviously checks in and cases the place/people, robs them and disappears.

Gentlemen,

I'm a fan of Sherlock Holmes. When I read stories such as these, I like to place myself as a local detective and surmise how he would go about tracking Monsieur Michel down for the arrest.

My first thought is how Michel got the room without a passport.

Maybe he’s a good actor and therefore good at exploiting people with a sob story or maybe it’s an inside job altogether. Maybe he made friends with certain gullible hotel employees (young Thai girls?) before hand and sort of played on their friendship for the room? What was the story that was fed to the hotel employee? And more importantly, is that employee still employed?

How do I know he’s really French?

This bum could be American for all I know. Is France a favored nation to Thailand and its people? Maybe Thais would trust a Frenchmen down on his luck as opposed to an Arab or Israeli?

Are Frenchmen loosing their passports more often then any other farrang?

Why French? Why not a German or Englishman for that matter.

Five safes were stolen but two were found in his room.

Were the other three harder to open and needed extra help to open or was he in the mist of opening them when he overheard (tipped off?) that the jig was up and took off? Or did he have a friend come over and help him take the other three safes out? The drill must have made some noise, housekeeping must have heard something? Who were the victims? Wealthy farangs? I wonder if he hung out in the lobby and people watched, then picked his victims at leisure then followed them to their rooms? Has this happened before?

Do Thai police have an All Points Bulletin system?

This guy has to be staying somewhere. I wonder how hard it would be to check for new Frenchmen check-ins. Is this feasible? Do they check bars/go go’s/massage parlors for wanted men? Is it possible to get the hotel employees to travel to the French embassy and view all the male passport pictures? Is there a French embassy and more importantly, do they have access to all French passports? I wonder what exactly was stolen?

Let me throw a cat amongst the pigeons.

If the guy managed to get a room without a passport then its safe to say that he is a very good con man.

He used a French accent. Possibly not french. How about someone from Montreal who would have grown up surrounded by the French language, would speak it and have no problem impersonating a French accent.

Perhaps it was someone who was leaving Pattaya after a very long stay and needed to top up cash supplies for the trip home as mummy had cut him off.

Soemone who wouldnt be too bothered about being recognised as he was about to (and just has) leave town.

Soemone who spends alot of time in and around Soi Buakhow and Soi Diana where he had previously lived.

Can anyone else work out wHo i may be talking aBout ?

I know its not his normal MO but its gotta be a possibility.

Hi,

He may have a French passport, maybe, maybe not, but I'm sure he is back in an Arab area of Paris by now.

I also agree totally with Kaiju - i mean the guy drilled through 5 safes for fucks sakes, and the drill was in a plastic carrier bag still in the room, didnt anyone at reception say, "pardon monsier - quest que ce le drill?" (sceuse my french) or why do you need a effing drill on holiday??

all a bit suspect, BUT TiT....
