When Can I Renew My Retirement Visa ?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I always renew my Retirement Visa in Bangkok the week before it is do to expire. It expires on October 8 or so every year. This year because of a family member medical situation I will not be able to be in Thailand at all in October. I will be in Bangkok and Pattaya most of September. My questions are... how early can I renew and how do I change my address to Pattaya from my Bangkok address. Thanks, samuijim

Hi SamuiJim,

You can renew your visa a couple of weeks before it expires, so towards the end of September will be fine. The renewal will then run to a year after the previous expiry date.

They changed the rules on WHERE you can renew visas, do 90 day reports etc a few months back. So if you live in Pattaya, you can't renew in Nong Khai or somewhere as you used to be able to, only at Pattaya Immigration.

Changing your address is done with the 90 day report form, and supporting evidence of your address - eg tabien baan or rent book.

Also, as soon as you've done the renewal, don't forget to get a re-entry permit for when you return at the end of October.
