pic previews or thumbnails?

I noticed the threads now have a cool "N Attachments" link that let you just view the pics in a thread without having to wade through all the individual postings.

 

It looks like the left-hand side of that Attachments page has placeholders for thumbnails of the pics, but I don't see an obvious way to turn on thumbnails.

 

Can that be done? And is there an option where I can view pics as thumbnails in postings instead of full pics?

 

I'd think that would also enable faster page loads.
