Robins Nest WARNING

Recommended Posts

Got to warn you guys.

Just seen off a mate and had 4 beers with him and as we were walking back to his hotel and I thought I would have something to eat at Robins Nest. Have eaten there a few times before, although I once had a problem with quality of food....bones in a sausage ! it has mostly been ok.

Anyway, I ordered a Chick Kiev with chips and peas. It turned up and looked great, so tucked in and halfway through though this meat is a bit chewy. RAW...not even cooked in the middle. Disgusting.

I showed the customers around me and they were not impressed either.....not even close to being cooked. Everyone started eating more slowly at that point, checking each mouthful !!

I paid for my beer and although they offered to cook me another meal, I declined and have come home.

Will never eat at their restaurants again and will most certainly tell all my friends to avoid them, and I hope for your own health you do too.....once with dodgy food is ok but twice...nah.

Cheers

Everytime i've eaten there its been OK, no complaints as yet.

For the OP though why not just talk to the staff? Mistakes happen and they acknowledged it and offered to correct it, why rubbish the place on your only visit there, times are bad enough as it is! I would understand if this was a regular thing on your visits there but your post implies that you've only been there once.

serving up raw chicken is a serious mistake and they should be slated, if their kitchen staff are so incompetent that they serve raw chicken then people should be warned, i ate there once and it was bloody awful, never again.

Davethailand,

I think you did not read the original post correctly. what part of, 'have eaten there a few times before' did you not understand ?!

I have eaten some raw chicken and that is totally not acceptable and potentially dangerous to my health. I do not want another meal from them, all I want now, is to wake up tomorrow morning and not have spent the night in the bog throwing up !!

Enjoy your next meals there.....

davethailand will never criticise a business owner, no matter how incompetent they are, he still backs them.

Cheers GD,

No big deal to me. I live about 30 seconds walk from this particular robins Nest and know many of their local punters and this experience will come up during our conversations. I will let them make their own choices but feel it is right to inform.

From your comments I guess DT runs a business over here too. I hope his chefs are better !!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with reporting a problem with an establishment (as you did) and warning people about that problem. That is why boards like this are so valuable. People have stilla choice to make if they want to go there after reading the report. all you did was offer them information.... Information is knowledge, and knowledge is power.

And if I eat someplace and it's great, should I first go a few times before posting how much I liked it? And if it's low season, and this happens, even worse - you would think they'd have plenty of time to cook it through. And who is going to go back to check its a regular thing - there are plenty of restaurants in Pattaya.

I am so tired of this line of reasoning - cannot report a bad experience until I go back and punish myself a few more times.

Excellent post!

And also, if 50 people have the same 1 time experience, we will know.

IMO Davethailand is right.

Every business makes a mistake both serious and minor. The successful businesses are the ones that listen, adapt, review, learn and evolve from it.

Providing the company.

Listens to Complaints

Offers to make it right, in this case a refund or fresh plate

Procedure review

and finally make the changes needed, i.e staff training/restructure or replace staff.

The staff should be trained to get a manager instantly when a food complaint comes, and once the manager is aware, he should be checking every single meal out personally before they are handed out, this could include checking the middle temperature of the food.

You are correct, but personally I find a massive difference in

1. an honest, fair and balanced review. (every business also has good points)

2. a review intended to persuade people not to go there

3. A message that tells people not to go there and the reason why.

4. A false review with the intention of causing damage.

It sounds like the farang manager is out of town, and he has failed to ensure quality control/assurance.

robins nest has been there many years,i have only eaten there a few times ,but you were offered a refund or something else.if this happened in uk you would hand back your plate and tell them it wasnt cooked, then they would offer you something else or refund.i dont see many complaints about dodgy grub back home

it sounds to me like they use pre-cooked frozen food and have untrained people attempting to warm the food and serve it, this is nothing new as the difference between a proper chef and an untrained labourer can be several thousand baht a month in wages.

Thats your opinion of course and you're right about the raw chicken but i've been in some of the supposed better restaurants here and had the same! As for Robins Nest I've eaten there also and so far so good and if i was served raw chicken I would certainly bring it up but that doesn't neccesrily mean that i'd boycott the place for one mistake! As said repeat mistakes then maybe but the benifit of the doubt could be given, I always check my food before i eat.

I'm sure I will enjoy my meals there as I haven't had a problem previously, in the future who knows?

As for my misake on you not being there then I apologise, an oversight on my part.

Since you said UK, you've never heard of people complaining of bad English food?

Do you read the Sunday paper's restaurant reviews? If you did, I'm pretty sure you would hear about bad food. And they would be nitpicking more than things as major as food being undercooked.

I will be honest with you.. The foods there is a shite, Square to god on my baby life.. Even my irish friends said the same.... We didn't complain, we just paid em quietly without a tip of course, we left lots of unfinished foods behind... We moved on to the WI Restaurant on the third rd afetrwards.. It was fantastic... the difference with restaurants in the UK is that if they consistently serve shite food like many pattaya outlets do then it will not be very long before nobody goes in them and they are closed, permanently, from the reviews i have read on many forums about robins nest countless people have been in there and been very unhappy with the quality of food and service, me included.
