You could try giving a specialist asian travel centre in London a call

www.westeasttravel.com/

I've booked with them a couple of times and can often beat many of the deals.

Other than that, if you want to take a gamble, when airlines struggle to fill seats, they will probably release superb deals around Oct/Nov if you are flying in Dec/Jan.

Also, have a look at Singapore Air website. They recently released a fabulous offer on all flights for the coming year. You may still be able to get cheap tickets for December.

I booked up with Singapore for my trip in Feb. It was 400 return from Scotland. The actual ticket price was £90, the rest was all in airport charges. Bargain !

Thanks for the info.......have added singapore and the www.westeasttravel.com/ to my research flights list.

If i come up with anything of interest to everyone else i will post immediately.

I booked my November trip with emirates.......you may want to check their website out as well but i always fly from Manchester.

I will check out the suggestions made.

Thanks

Has anyone else noticed how the sub £400 deals have all but disappeared?

Hope its only for the time being !!!!!!

I tend to look "on spec" at any dates between Sept09-April10 and cheapest i can find easily is £450

I DID find a few though............these had stopovers of 24 or more hours in some cases !!!!!!

I usually go direct to airline site.

Sometimes Expedia has better fares.

Each travel site could have the best deal at any given moment.

I've just received an email from WestEastTravel for their latest promotion with Eva Airlines. The price is from July - December 2009.

£404 (LHR - BKK - LHR)

£560 as above but a premium economy seat.

I had a look on Netflights and they are showing December flights for £420.

To answer the point about when to buy your ticket......well, this is query will always be an issue every year. No one knows is the answer. You will get deals all the time coming up, but then, the problem is.....What if they don't come quick enough and you end up paying 70% more than if you booked the decent prices you were viewing a few months ago ???

The way I do it is I have a figure in my head of what I would be happy to pay (from Scotland, that figure is £440-520 ish) I tend not to pay more than that and if I see something in the 400 mark, I'll just book it. Luckily enough for me, one of the BMs posted about Singapore Airlines deals being released and I got mines for £400. It doesn't get any better than that (from Scotland).

My advise would be to just get a price in your head that you are content on paying and keep an eye 2-3 times a week on the net. Once that figure is showing, just book it. That way, you can make plans to secure hotel rooms etc.

ju5t: Check out Eva's HOT-E-FARES. You should be able to get Deluxe-Elite for steerage prices. Fares get a lot cheaper closer to departure date. wj

The only problems I have found with that in the past is that if you try to shoe-horn domestic and international flights together into a schedule that meets a hotel booking criteria (which is probably the more flexible out of the two), you may not get the best price available. If you are flexible by 3-5 days, then you often find the agency/flight company can get you a cheaper price if you fly on other dates near to your specified days.

Just my experience on this though.

JU5T: I was just on Eva's website looking for a friend who wants to join my 'monger-quest' and I checked for you as well. Eva all-in is 425 GBP or 565 in Elite. Your timing is perfect, since fares go way up in early Dec. You could wait 'em out and get a better fare maybe, but fuel's going up. Tough call. I'd pay the extra $$ for Elite unless you're a little bloke though. I didn't look, but if you've got the option take 'Deluxe" over 'Elite'- more room. wj

lol im a 6'3" thai boxer so i am going to be cramped whereever i get put but hey im used to it!!

I take on board the point u make about Dec being the busy time so the chances of it being busy and therefore higher prices is more likely. Plus fuel is only going up at the min tho it shouldnt with the recession and the way the oil price has dropped to 50% of its highest high recently but thats this world for ya!!!

Im looking at a Emerates flight from Birmingham to Bangkok on a A380 for £463 return, so if that aint got enough room no other plane will :D

Plus i think it is best to pay flights now leave me more time to save :D

i am lucky as i will be paid the day i leave and paid again while on holiday so i will be looking at a nice budget if i can just keep up my training from now till then and avoid the alcohol and then go FREKKEN NUTS when i get there!!!

Only the DXB-BKK leg is A380 though isn't it? BHX flights are still B777.

lastminutetravel is my favorite choice in need of tour and travel related plannings. I used to be like someone addicted to travel and so I was always in search for these kind of things and then one of my friend suggested me this and since then I've been using it.
