Online lottery talks next week

Published: 16/06/2009 at 05:15 PM

Government Lottery Office director Wanchai Surakul said on Tuesday he will seek a meeting with Sathit Limpongphan, the new permanent secretary for finance, next week to discuss introducing the long-stalled online lottery.

Mr Wanchai said he will advise Mr Sathit, the ex-officio chairman of the GLO board, that the online lottery project is 100 per cent ready to go into operation.

However, there were still some legal steps to be taken and confirmation in writing was needed from Finance Minister Korn Chatikavanij for the project to go ahead. The issue would be tabled for discussion in a GLO board meeting later this month..

One the finance minister gives the green light, the GLO would launch the online lottery in 45-60 days, he said.
