Bad news for Soi LK Metro

Pattaya Protagonist

Recommended Posts

The bulldog bar was closed down as too much money had been spent, especially by a sting by the police.

I have been informed from the Thai landlord down there, that this february the leases aren't going to be renewed for all the units from champagne a gogo to Bobs BBQ. (3 som bar, ex bulldog bar and the rockhouse are included) It could be the next year, we had a loss in communication. I am unsure if its this coming year or next one, but it is definately going to happen on a february.

The Thai owner would like to turn it into a market/shop and does not want these types of bars there. I feel sorry for the business owners as this will make their businesses worth next to nothing. I am guessing that they will try and sell the bars to some newbie that doesn't have a clue.

I do like the food at Bobs BBQ, however he will have to find the cash to relocate and advertise. I specifically asked about Lolitas as that was the only one I was worried about. The rockhouse isnt worth much, I wouldn't like to guess how much now.

can you clarify your source again? Did you actually talk to the owner yourself and if so what is your relation to him

1) There are several landlords who own the buildings implied in the OP.

2) Bulldog is undergoing an expansion and will reopen shortly.

3) Leases of multiple businesses seldom expire simultaneously.

4) One of the owners of the bars in question just renewed his lease for a fair few years.

hmmmmmmmmmm dodgy thread alert

Did I say they were all the same landlords?

2) Bulldog is undergoing an expansion and will reopen shortly.

Thats very odd, not what I heard, from the horses mouth.

3) Leases of multiple businesses seldom expire simultaneously.

Did I say they expire simultaneously? I am guessing february will be the last one?

4) One of the owners of the bars in question just renewed his lease for a fair few years.

Let me guess, he said that right? And what forum did you read this? LOL

Its weird how I hear something, I don't have all the facts, so I write it in a way that doesnt seem like I am making it up. Then you put words into my mouth by making assumptions.

1 of the bars is extended his place and making 4 extra bedrooms and i dont think he would be spending all that money if he had to get out

You used the phrase "the Thai landlord" in your OP. How many are involved in this plan then?

My source could be wrong about this I suppose. Or, yours could be lying to you. Who knows?

Did I say they expire simultaneously? I am guessing february will be the last one?
That was how your OP was phrased: "this february the leases aren't going to be renewed".

Let me guess, he said that right? And what forum did you read this?
You can guess my source; no shame or failing in that. You haven't revealed yours though.

And even weirder that you are helter-skelter backpedaling from your OP by making specious semantical challenges to my post rather than providing any more detail about your source or why we should believe what you posted. However, you have admitted that you posted something before having all the facts (leaving the rest of what your OP in question as well) so I see no reason to pursue this any further. We'll see what happens. Edited by Bruce Mangosteen

As far as I knew,Lengke family owned the whole Soi and "sub" owners (extended family and life long friends ) were landlords by proxy. Is this not so?

I dont think that is the case. I was aware LK may own one or two shop houses, I believe the rest were sold off. I am on good terms with my landlord and I know he has no connection with LK.

I have heard 'reliable' sources before state that bars were not going to have their leases renewed due to planned redelopments. I now take the attitude of I will beleive it when I see it. I am sure there is more money in farang owned bars than markets which will be owned by Thais.

Expanding a bar that has had no customers since it openned. Guess its time to launder some more money or something..

That stretch does have the same landlord, this I can tell you for certain from first hand knowledge. I imagine Bob's BBq will just relocate, as most people will travel to wherever he is located for his food. They've had a lot of changes on that Soi in the past year alone, wouldn't be surprised if the bars just moved over to the other side of LK Metro, or even right onto Soi Buakhao.

Good luck to everyone there, I hope everyone is able to make it into a nice location if this does happen to be the case. Would really be nice to see a few Bob's bbq places around town though, would be even better if he opened one up in BKK too, I imagine that would be quite popular in Nana plaza.
