Self surgery

Disclaimer ** This may seem very strange to most of you. Might even make you cringe **

So I was in Korea for work a few months ago and had a small mole on my stomach. It was itching over a 3 or 4 day period which made me constantly scratch at it. I was getting very annoyed with this little thing.

One night me and a few of the boys went out drinking...after returning to my hotel room I had a brilliant idea. I'm gonna cut this thing off. Being drunk didnt help my reasoning. So I took a shower then quickly cleaned my medical tools under hot water before laying on my bed with an ice cube squarely on the irritated mole.

After a few minutes, with the ice cube melted and a numb area on my stomach, I was ready to rid myself of such an inperfection. I grabbed my tweezers and pulled the little guy upward, stretching the skin. Then with the opposite had positioned my fingernail clippers at the base of the soon-to-be-gone mole. I thought to myself "this is crazy"...and clamped down...severing it off. :GoldenSmile1::MonkeyFight: Wow did it bleed a lot! I went through several tissues applying direct pressure to close the wound.

Heck of a scab the next morning. It's gone now and only have a small scar. I think Im lucky it didnt get infected.

Badger, that was very reckless and irresponsible of you!

You should have had a BG do it like I did my last trip :GoldenSmile1:

best way to remove is with a freezing agent available from pharmacy or neat iodine will burn the little feckers off

I'd like to hear Bryan's story.

Funny you mention that, i did the exact same thing about a month ago using toenail clippers as well.

I made sure i wiped them down with an alcohol swab beforehand.

Lots of blood but it healed it up nicely.

Holding a compressed air can upside down also works for freezing stuff, but you should spray a Q-tip instead of directly on your skin or else you'll splatter yourself.

Also a great, non-toxic way to kill nasty (or fast) bugs, BTW.

Oh my goodness. I respect you guys so much. What a tough bunch of men in Pattaya. I have a couple of patients who need similar procedures. Where is the least expensive place in Pattaya for mole removal? If this helps I have a female who needs one removed from her face and a male who needs one removed from his neck. They do not have any type of insurance so they will have to pay cash if this helps any.

The 7-11 girls are pretty good about loading people's cell phone cards when they buy them.

I imagine they'd be equally proficient if you bought a pair of toenail clippers and asked nicely. :)

I will pass on your wise advice. I have just a few questions on this matter.

Should they bring their own alcohol or will the 7/11 ladies provide the juice? What would one imagine the fees would be for such a surgery?

No worries; I hear they get their sanitation advice from the food cart vendors. One of their rat-on-a-stick specials would probably cover the fee.

If they are in an area usually covered by clothes you can get your TG to tie a thread tightly around them at the base. It cuts off the blood supply and they fall off after a few days. No bleeding when they fall off.

that's really not a good idea, I had one removed once and they had to cut deep and it bled for days (with stitches). You might not have got all of it, and it's best not to play around with moles - I don't think there's any real evidence that playing with moles leads to skin cancer, but as it often starts with a mole it sounds best to leave them alone or see a doctor

I attempted yet another self-surgery. After pattayaplayers post I tied a thread around a mole (or skin tag?? not sure what it is) around the base of it. Its under my armpit so reaching it was a challenge. Hurt like hell when I cranked down the knot too. Cut the loose strings off and tried to forget about it.

Damn string came off in the shower. Now that spot hurts bad. Might need to return to my original method of removal.

That sounds bad too, it could go bad and get infected before falling off, plus I don't think that's getting it deep enough.

I've done it with several skin tags and it worked without a problem. No bleeding, no infection. The thread needs to be really tight and at the base.

I did it on skin tags so my method may not work as well with moles. I think moles are darker, larger and more dense than skin tags.

I've also had multiple skin tags removed by a doctor who applied a topical anesthetic, cut them off with razor sharp scissors and put band-aids on the spot which he advised to leave until they fell off in the shower. He did almost 50 at one time. It worked very well and 6 years later less than a quarter of them have re-grown. The doctor told me would over time grow back as he said they were hereditary.

I paid about $300 in South Africa in a private plastic surgeons office. I'm sure something similar would be the same or less in LOS.

Ah, I didn't see the difference in "Skin Tag" and "Mole", like I say I think moles go deeper so I don't think it would be a good idea - you would just get the surface and it would probably re-appear after healing.

Although it's smart to have this kind of stuff done in an actual doctor's office, you still have to watch out for your own ass.

Last year I spent a few hundred $ back in the USA at a Dermatologist office to check some suspicious spots (one turned out to be pre-cancerous, yikes!) and also have a couple skin tags removed.

The doc had her assistant handle removing the tags. So I'm lying there watching her put on her gloves and grab some scissors, then she leans into me getting ready to start cutting away. I literally grab her wrist to stop her.

"Hey, aren't you going to use some alcohol wipes or something?" I ask. :P

Pause.

"Would like me to?" she asks. :P

I reply very slowly and clearly enunciate "yes, I would like you to steralize the area before you start cutting into me!" :Dunno1:

Next time I'm getting a TG & some toenail clippers. No only will it cost less, but it will probably be more sanitary and come with a much more happy ending!

Had a few of those skin hanging things, whenever I showered could feel them. Since two were on my inner thigh and one on my stomach. Used the old thread trick. One on the inner thigh was so painful when I tightened the thread it took nearly all day to tighten bit by bit.

The one on the stomach was removed by a stanley blade dipped in vodka when the skin bit was no longer pink.

Jeezzz it nipped needed to drink the rest of the vodka.

One on the thigh is coming back.

Sounds like we have several "home surgeons"... I aint going to the doctor until I cause an infection...till then I'll keep rolling the dice and saving cash.

Hey Smelly, so she looked at you like you were crazy when you asked to clean the area...hahahaha...

td5855 is dipping tools in Vodka...OK ! Yeah! LOL

Tonight I'm re-applying the string to this thing under my arm...wish me luck. Before long I will have radiant smooth perfect skin...How do I remove back hair by myself?
