Please suggest a one day car rental + driver service.

I am thinking of a Chiangmai excursions for a whole day and back to Chaingmai city late at night.

I can drive but no int'l driving permit and not familiar with the routes. So I prefer to rent a car with a driver.

From where?

It is 12 hours each direction from Pattaya.

Cheaper and safer to fly.

I haven't been to Chiang Mai in awhile, but there used to be drivers waiting outside the hotels. They take you on a tour of the factories, or to Chiang Dao cave, or anywhere else you want. There were so many I doubt you have to book in advance.

The OP is in, or will be in Chiangmai. So is asking for possible ideas for day trips out of downtown Chiangmai.

That’s what we did in CM. It was a long time ago, back when the Yellow Shirts took over Suvarnabhumi. We met a guy with his own car and ended up using him for about three days. He took us to Myanmar and Laos, and to visit a Kayan village. We also went to a hot springs and the White Temple.

These days, I don’t know if something like this is still available with Bolt and Grab running.

Plan to stay in Chiangmai City for a week, and spend excursions for a half or whole day to Mae Kampong , and nearby tourism destinations, such as Pai.

So, rent a car back and forth downtown Chaingmai on the same day.

Pai is a long way from Chiangmai.. long trip for a day.

Mae Kampong is totally the opposite way, and also a long day trip.

CHG has attraction/things to see and do in all directions.

eg: When going to Mae kampong, then go to San Kampaeng Hot Springs and the umbrella Village, which are on the way.

eg: When going to Pai (see the cavern) then stop off at Chiang Dao cave and the Elephant camp and Lisaw minority Village on the way.

eg: Go to Hang Dong village artisan market and do the loop to Samoerng and come back thru Queen Sirikit gardens and Maerim. Lovely scenery.

eg: if the weather is clear go to Doi Suthep, pass/see the zoo and also a minority village behind Doi Suthep temple.

That's the 4 main directions from City Center.

Pai is a long way, so you might think of stopping over at a homestay for the night.

Any recommnedation of drivers? one-way, return trips or whole day rental with drivers.

Those websites advertise for car rental with a driver quoted expansive price.
