My TM47 got rejected and got a response that I need to go to immigration.

Could be a couple reasons either because I submitted 1 day over or I moved since the last submission or maybe both.

TIP

To find out what details immigration have on you, put your passport number and nationality in at the start.

You will see a magnifying glass directly underneath.

Click on the magnifying glass and watch as your entire form is populated with the information that immigration have about you.

Now in my case, they still have my old address so I resubmitted with the details the currently have on me.

Now I think it's still going to fail due to me submitting late but this tip saves a lot of guess work and I wish I had known about it as it saves manually typing and automatically makes it identical to the information they are expecting.

99% sure it will fail but that does not mean it's due to this tip.

Also and this does not mean I recommend this strategy but apparently the maximum fine is 2000 baht

Meaning that if you do not do your 90 day reporting at all during the visa period and then pay the 2000 baht fine at renewal, that is all you owe.

So it's not 8000 (4x 2000) as you would expect.

I am not going to try this myself but if you are in a tight situation a long way from an immigration office then it would be tempting to just not report.

I did this for my first year or two.  Could never get the online form to work with my address at the time, so never bothered with the 90 day reporting.  Only did it occasionally if I needed it for another document, then paid the fine.  No issues.

 

 

 

FYI - As expected, it got rejected.

Real estate did fill out the new TM30 and I checked beforehand so their systems must not sync very fast.

It must have been because I did it late, but even if I did it on time it would have failed with the incorrect address.

It however would have worked doing it a second time has I been within the grace period.

That was the other issue, I thought the grace period was 90+7 days. No it's inclusive of the 7 days.

I got a reminder via email and should have acted on it at that time.
