This is a con running on the ebookers web site, and others.

They offer you a £15 voucher of your next booking.

And when you give your E/M address ebookers give them your credit card details unbeknownst to the customer

People are going mad all over the internet about this con

It is presented very misleading and not in the spirit of trust between company and customer.

This is just a sample of the people being robed by this scum

Shopersdiccount.co.uk

This thieving lot monitor many forums for anyone complaining about their underhand methods.

They have been carrying out this confidence trick for the past 2 years in The UK, USA and other countries, aided and abetted by these companies, who are passing out your credit card details after a purchase: Interflora, easyJet, Expedia, vistaprint, allposters, ctshirts, electricshopping and Millet Sports.

Many con tricks are not strictly illegal, and this falls into that category.

Essentially they offer these client companies a means to "further monetise" the traffic on their websites. This is their sales pitch.

How it works is this - You pay for your flights with Easyjet or flowers with Interflora, having entered all your credit card details. A message appears, offering say £10 off your next purchase. This message appears to be from your trusted retailer, so despite a little link to their dubious T&C's, you enter your email address and continue. At no point is it confirmed to you that Easyjet, or the others have now passed your billing details to this firm, and you have been tricked into confirming an £8 per month direct debit.

This company rely on the fact that most people never check their CC statements, which will then bill you for eternity. It's a small enough amount, that you may never get round to cancelling it, and of course it's impossible to cancel this type of monthly debit by calling your CC company.

The company do however concede that they are using underhand methods, by having an automated cancellation line. It's clear that this is a major way of keeping the authorities off their backs, as they know most people won't bother. Oh, and when you do call, and opt to speak to an operator, they have a scripted 10 minute speech to read out, basically informing you that you agreed to their T&C's when you "signed up". They'll happily cancel your account, but you'll have to fight hard to get a refund of the money they have so far extracted from you behind your back.

Now the bad news. Despite frequent forum complaints about this since 2007, nothing has been done to stop this company, or to shame their clients, who are happy to destroy their carefully crafted reputation in exchange for a quick and dirty buck.

Please PM me if you have had any success in dealing with Shopper Discounts & Rewards.

PS. You will see the item "SHOPPERDISCOUNTS.CO.UK" on your credit card statement, and the amount can be £8, £10, or £12.

PPS. They have at least 420 staff making a living from this scam.

Shame on Easyjet! Shame on Webloyalty! Shame on InterFlora! Ebookers

this has been going on for years .. any company that co-operates with these crooks should be shunned. i got hit by them via interflora about 3 years ago, contacted shopperdiscounts.co.uk directly and ground down the customer service guy until they agreed to refund me, also complained to interflora then posted negative reviews about interflora and never used them again since.

O you who turn the wheel and look to windward, Consider Phlebas, who was once handsome and tall as you.
