Signboard discourages dumping of dead bodies

PHATTHALUNG : ''No dumping dead bodies here'' reads a sign erected in an area in Ban Khuan Kong in tambon Tamnan in Muang district. Village head Krachang Noondam said the area appeared to be a natural haunt of criminals and their nefarious activities.

It is an isolated location spread with thick vegetation and a lot of rubber trees. Few people are brave or foolhardy enough to use the road running through the area after nightfall, Mr Krachang said.

It is where several rapes have occurred and where thieves dismantle stolen vehicles.

But the most chilling aspect of Ban Khuan Kong is the incidence of dumping bodies of people there who have been killed elsewhere.

''Recently, two women were killed and their bodies were dumped here,'' the village head said. ''One was a hairdresser, the other was a massage therapist. Both were from the downtown area.''

Mr Krachang said he and the villagers agreed that while they were looking for ways to ensure safety in the area, at least a sign should be erected to declare the area ''a dead-body free zone''.

Wow! <sarcasm>A sign is a sure way to prevent it from happening again. </sarcasm> Maybe they should put on the sign where they prefer the criminals to dump their bodies so that they don't have to go fishing around in the forest every now and then.
