Who do you think will win this year?

hi

im a lifelong snooker player, (cant play now my eyes have deteriorated) but i still maintain an interest,

after seeing him dominate in the last three months i would say Zhao, if he gets through to the quarter finals

will be virtually unbeatable. So Zhao for me, but it will be interesting if Ronnie turns up and gets through to the quarters.

(the opening last 32 and 16 are well known for shocks in respect to favourites)

cheers Beet

If Zhao can handle the pressure of expectation, then yes. If Ronnie plays well, there could be a potential semi with Zhao. Last time it was one sided, really want to see an in form Ronnie play Zhao before it's too late

Case as always to be made for quite a number of players .     One bad session in the first round can be fatal .

Standards are high , with Chinese potting machines firing in balls from all angles and distance .  Can't say i blame them going for it if the pockets are as generous as in recent years .

Players don't fear Ronnie anymore , as he says himself he's very beatable now .

Mark Selby and John Higgins are still the two players nobody wants to play .    Trump and Xintong  world no.1 and the  defending champ both playing well .

Should be good .

16 Qualifiers to join the 16 Seeds , round 1 starts today .

Luca Brecel , Stewart Bingham , Jack Lisowski and Stephen Maguire not making it through Q .

Good to see Matthew Stevens at Crucible again .       The other Welshy , Mark Williams has said " If he wins the title this year he will run naked along the M4 motorway "     Wouldn't want to see that !

I'm conflicted. Always been a big fan of his. But perhaps some things should remain Secrets 😅

I think its between Zhao and Mark Williams.  I would love Ronnie to win it again and I know he just won the John Virgo tournament, but I have a bad feeling he will go out early.  Looks like he could face John Higgins in round 2 and that might be that.

I’d also like to see Ronnie against Ali Carter, they have history. Don’t know if they are on the same side of the draw. Can’t stand Carter for some reason.

They meet in the next round if they both win.  Carter will have to beat John Higgins to do so though.

Pockets look to be very generous , Mark Allen played a couple of shots in his match against Zhang Anda that were plain misses , but they still dropped .     Dennis Taylor still insists the pockets are very tight , sorry Dennis , thats a load of crap .

Doesn't diminish the skills required to play the game at the top level .

For me Mark Selby , hate him but admired his brilliant safety , probably the best safety ever seen in Snooker . He is the only one is worthy for a bet , he wont let you down if you back him at the bookies . Hoping for Ronnie to win his eighth world snooker championship but can’t see that due to his age and shortage of tournaments appearance . Zhao wont win this year , No first time champion at crucible had ever win again in the following year , i like him , beautiful fluid cueist …Difficult to watch snooker yesterday and today at Pattaya , staying at Pratumnak , with crazy water fights , I couldn’t go to Pattaya to watch snooker . Thanks be fcuk it will be done tonight . Thanks to OP for starting this thread .

the gradual disappearance of Luca brecel ? hope it doesnt become a sort of tragic snooker story ?

Finally worked out how to watch live. The Higgins v Carter match was wild Carter leading 5-4 after being down 4-0

Yes , Luca a fantastic talent , but he's a playboy first and a Snooker player second .

Has massively underachieved for many years , if he had the work ethic of say a Mark Allen , he would be a serious achiever .

Ali Carter looked as if his head was going to explode at 4-0 , with John Higgins run of luck !   😀

Turned it around and should go to the wire .

Stan Moody stormed into a 3-1 lead over Kyren Wilson .

I heard he was good , he looks a lot more than good !

Match was halted whilst Stan had to complete his homework ...   sorry mid session interval ... 🙂

Ali Carter talking about run of the ball in his interview, what a twat. Steve Davis rightly corrected it saying that if you pick the right shot the luck follows. Can’t complain if you didn’t pick the right shot often enough

It was a very poor shot to open up all the reds in the final frame. I know it was somewhat forced by the safety from John Higgins, but it seemed to me he played it as a hit and hope.

Ahh but how good would they be on a 7 foot table with Songkran wet felt, physics defying cushions and fucked cues.  Not to mention bum dancing distractions

Judging by the posts on forum, more BMs would want to pot the brown than the pink.
